Friends,

I sent my passport last week and just got my passport today with the visa. The original email from CIC said that my docs must be received in their office within 60 days from the date of their email (email was dated 10/02/204).

On the visa today, I noticed the following:

Date of issue: 10/02/2014
Date of expiry: 20/03/2014

Does this mean I have 6 days left to land in Canada??
CIC also sent a letter saying that "Your immigrant visa and CPR have been given the maximum validity. It cannot be extended under any reason."

Is this common? Does everyone get only 40 days from date of issue to land in Canada? ???

Please help.

No it is not normal, if you are in montreal the border is just 1 hour away

Congrats! It seems so. If you are in Canada, you better find a border quickly; if you are outside, do whatever you can to travel within a few days because they mean what they say.

What about your medical? When does that expire? It could be that they already extended the validity of your medical... Just a guess. What seems weird though is what would have happened if you'd gone closer to the 60 day limit for giving them the requested info. Would they have given you a more decent COPR expiration date, say in April? If so, why can't they do that this time too??? It really sucks for you!

In response to the question 8 you said that you worked in Sept Iles since 2/2012. But you only lived there since 1/2013 according to your response to the question 12. Please make correction to the schedule A and send the new document via email as soon as possible."

I understand my situation might be unusual but the form is correct! I don't have to live where I work because I'm a geologist who does work on a fly-in fly-out basis. Yes, I was working for a company based in Sept-Iles in 2012 and living in Montreal whilst actually working north of Schefferville but so what?! Basically I think my COPR is going to be delayed even more while they try to wrap their brains around this...

Catpea, did you get an email requesting a scanned copy of the ID page of your passport? If so, what was the email address you sent it back to?

Yes I did a few weeks ago and I sent it to the address they told me to send it back too, which was CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca

Just got an invite to take part in the SIEL with the MICC. Has anyone done the course? I've been in Quebec for 2.5 years - for those of you who have done the SIEL course, do you think I'll find it useful or do you think I'd know most of it already from living in Quebec?

I have not received any response from CIC regarding a visa extension. Looks like I will have no choice but to do my landing by Mar 20th (driving to Montreal).

Questions:

1) Along with my passport, I received an instruction sheet + 2 copies of "COPR" that have 'Not valid for travel' watermarked across them. What does this mean? I am thinking it means that the COPR paper itself is not sufficient and I will need the 2 COPR papers + valid passport with visa stamp to do the landing. Am I correct?

2) Whoever has landed previously, could you tell me what documents to carry (other than CSQ certificate). Please help.

can.maple, unfortunately I have not done my landing yet, but we wish you good luck. If I were you, I would take all the documents connected to my application. It is better to have more than you need, than to be missing anything. Just let us know how things went.
