Dear Friends,

URGENT REQUEST.
I submitted my application earlier this month and it was returned by CIC stating the following:
"We do not accept passports as proof of birth, therefore we are unable to accept details from Passport. We do accept secondary school records that contain the following:
1) Applicants name
2) Date of Birth
3) Name of Parent/Parents
If you are not able to provide a birth certificate with all 3 criteria, we require an affidavit stating all of this information or that a birth certificate cannot be attained."

My questions:
a) Do they require original birth certificate from home country? Will they accept a copy or will they accept a notarized copy?
b) If I cannot get birth certificate from home country, then can someone please guide me how to proceed with Affidavit? Is there an agency I should contact to get an Affidavit. I live in north-east USA right now (not in home country).
c) Anything else I need to provide to prove that I was born :o? I already gave them my passport pages from home country showing that I was born in home country.

Thank you so much.

Can.Maple,

I suggest you to ask someone in your family or a friend in your home country to get your birth certificate, get a notarized translation right away and send it to you by courier, then check everything is alright, add like a cover letter with your application number and send it to CIC.

in my case, I submitted a copy of my birth certificate but that copy was issued by the government authorities in my home country (so it could be treated as updated original or legal copy). Then I got a notarized translation of it, and send both documents together.

or if you have your school records get a notarized translation of them.

hope this helps you.

hello guys, I need help with some questions. My timeline is on the left under m profile.

First of all, are there people in this forum applying from the USA that have the work permit or visa expiring soon, and still have not heard anything from CIC?

I live and work in the US on work permit and it is about to expired in January and i have not heard anything from CIC on my application yet. Please, advise me what i can do because the work permit i have is not renewable, actually its an OPT (Optional Practical Training) which you received after graduation.
I have written several messages to CIC, but it seems like they are not even checking them. No response.

My question here is, has anybody been in the same situation, or heard of anybody in the same situation that was able to resolve the issue with CIC, and How? Please, i seek desperate answer.
Thanks

Hi everyone,

I want to share my time line:

- Med Done: 05 December 2012

Hi everybody,

I got an email last friday requesting a RCMP clearance, PCC and a clarification on my background, my mistake I missed 3 months in schedule A ???. so I'll send it all in one piece. ;D

@CEC5
Sorry I am not an expert about it, but so far I know the status of the applicant is independent from their application for PR so if your work permit expires, I don't think they will accelerate the process for you no mater if you are in Canada or US or another place.

@ cvd222, locashelly, MasterGeek, SMANDY, Zedd, brebu any update?

@QC_Student_PEQ welcome and "In progress" is great news! you are almost there!

@giluy welcome
