I don't think the criminality checks are taking long, i think it's just that they aren't doing anything. Like I say nothing has been updated since June. And no there's no reason why it should take long for me, I have a clear criminal record and gave them clear police check reports from Australia and the UK.
Guess we'll just have to play the waiting game! :(

I've been playing that game for 30 months now since I submitted my CSQ application, and the waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos instead.

I really wish I'd applied under Canadian Experience Program instead of QSW, then I'd probably have got my PR 2 years ago.

So I got my GCMS notes today. Here's a summary:

Lock-in Date: 2012/02/08
Rec'd Date: 2012/02/22
Eligibility: Not Started
Security: Not Started
Criminality: In Progress
Medical: Passed
Eligibility Date Due: 2013/05/14

I can also see they did an RCMP trace in May last year which reported "No Trace". They updated my medical results on 2012/06/21 but since that date the only update on my file is a note to say my MP contacted them and they told her that no one has been assigned to look at it. So since updating the medicals, nothing has been done, so that's 8 months of nothing.
we're in the same boat my friend. I really have no idea what is exactly going on in CPP-O!! It's extremely annoying!! what worries most is that your AOR is about 3 months earlier than me and we have similar status!! it probably means that I should expect anything from them in couple of months!!

Should we send send emails to CPP Ottawa asking for explanation on why July-September applications are being processed while March-May applications are ignored, and that is not fair ?
I agree with you. I don't know if writing to them has ever changed anything but I think it is worth the shot!!

I think this was posted earlier, but here are the timelines Ottawa are quoting:

Application Received DateReview Date*By what date can you expect to receive the next update from CPP-O?
... before 1 September 2011On or before 28 February 2013By 28 February 2013
1 September – 30 November 2011On or before 31 March 2013By 31 March 2013
1 December – 28 February 2012On or before 31 May 2013By 31 May 2013
1 March – 31 May 2012On or before 31 August 2013By 31 August 2013
... after 1 June 2012After 31 August 2013After 31 August 2013

*Review Date: Please note that the Review Date means the date by which your file will be reviewed by
an officer. It does not mean that your file will necessarily be finalized by that date.

So I can't expect to hear anything until May, and according to this timeline I'm afraid Jasmin can't expect to hear anything until August. And seeing as they are saying that the file won't necessarily be finalised by that date there could be a lot more waiting. My work permit expires in May so it looks like I'll need to pay another $150 for a new one, that will be my 5th work permit since I arrived in Canada :( CIC really are getting their money's worth out of me.

I have to join my firm in Montreal in May and I was hoping to get my PR by then. I guess I'll have to apply for a work permit now. This totally sucks!

If you need a new work permit you should get on it straight away. You'll need a CAQ and an LMO. It is taking around 12-16 weeks to get these just now. Also note that in any other province this would be free, but here in Quebec you'll need approximately $400 for the CAQ and LMO processing by Immigration Quebec as well as the $150 for a work permit.

If you already have a work permit in Canada, this might be valid for working for the same company in Quebec, so check that out.

Yes, they are taking us as their cash cows

I'll make sure to take full advantage of Quebec's low subsidized university tuition and student aid once I become a PR 8)

yes. i don't know if cpp-o is stupid or they are processing late 2012 applications to make their average processing time less ugly. we need to let them know that it's not like no one has noticed their tricks.

Not in Quebec, you'll have to be already in Quebec and hold a valid work permit in order to be LMO exempted for another work permit.

No. I had this problem last May. My work permit was expiring and Immigration Quebec told me they would not give me a new one without a CAQ and an LMO. I was very angry at this because I had been working in this job for 2.5 years at this point, so it didn't seem right I should have to apply for a LMO and CAQ. When I started my job in 2009 it was LMO exempt due to a shortage of IT workers, but that program had ended. It was like they were saying to me "thanks for helping us fill the shortage, we've got enough Canadian IT experts now so bugger off". Luckily it turned out that on June 1st Immigration Quebec changed the rules to say that anyone with an existing work permit could have it extended without an LMO provided they had a CSQ and a pending PR application. I was able to get a refund for my CAQ/LMO application after a lot of hassle.

Just got my GCMS notes (its very long and not super helpful). The only part I think I do get is in the notes near the end of Jan were it says "No apparent concerns. RFV." which would explain my email almost two weeks ago. Is there anything anyone thinks might be helpful in it for others? I'm wondering if mine got processed earlier because my CSQ is from 2010.

And I love the timeline. Generated 2013-02-05, received 2013-02-26. Speedy!

so how do you think we should do it? should we make a little petition? to be honest with I don't think they would care at all but that's all we can do at this stage!!

hallo beakster if you have CSQ and a valid job letter then you dont need lmo and caq. you only need is csq+job letter+aor of PR+proof of medical (receipt)for PR. Go to the border (flagpolling) get your workpermit extension.here is the link
