With a Growing Job Market, Your Future May Be In Quebec

From now to 2015, the province of Quebec is planning to admit 50,000 new immigrations each year from over 100 countries. Individuals who are thinking of settling in Quebec will want to know about employment opportunities in the province. According to a study done by the Université de Montréal, a significant majority of immigrants selected as workers found a job that corresponds to their qualifications within five years of being admitted to Quebec. This is encouraging news as Quebec employers are requesting that the Quebec government accept more immigrants to the province to make up for the loss of Canadian workers that are retiring.

Where are the most employment opportunities in Quebec?

In general, Quebec’s overall labour market is favourable, but the Montreal region in particular is known for having employment opportunities across a wide range of industries. Because of this, a majority of foreign individuals choosing to settle in Quebec live in the Montreal region.

According to the Canadian government’s labour forecasts, there are several employment sectors in Montreal that will be experiencing particularly strong growth, such as information and technology sectors, health and science fields, and the tourism industry. The following are a few examples of occupations that are expected to have the highest rate of job growth within the coming years:

Information and Technology

Montreal is home to several large computer and video gaming corporations such as Electronic Arts, UbiSoft, and Softimage and the following are a few occupations are in demand for those industries:

• Information Systems Analysts and Consultants
• Web Designers and Developers
• Computer Network Technicians
• Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers

Business & Finance

• Financial auditors and accountants
• Professional occupations in business services to management
• Bookkeepers

Health and Medical

Canada’s population is quickly aging resulting in a greater demand for health services. As such, the need of individuals who work in the medical field is particularly high for the following occupations:

• Specialist Physicians
• Biologists and related scientists
• General Practitioners and Family Physicians
• Dentists
• Pharmacists
• Physiotherapists
• Licensed Practical Nurses

Tourism Industry

With hundreds of festivals held annually, Montreal and Quebec City welcome millions of tourists from around the world, resulting in a high demand for employees in the following occupations:

• Accommodation Service Managers
• Food Service Supervisors
• Cooks
• Food and Beverage Servers

Occupations in Education

Montreal is home to several renowned universities and colleges, such as McGill University, the John Molson School of Business, and the Université de Montreal. As such, job opportunities in the educational field are constantly growing:

• University Professors
• College and Other Vocational Instructors
• Administrators – Post-secondary Education and Vocational Training

Other Occupations in High Demand

• Butchers, Meat Cutters and Fishmongers – Retail and Wholesale
• Electrical Mechanics
• Aircraft Assembly Inspectors
• Construction Managers
• Civil Engineers

A job offer from a Quebec employer is not required when applying for Canadian Permanent Residency through the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. Contrary to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants in the Quebec Skilled Worker Program are not required to have work experience in a qualifying occupation. Computer programmers, engineers, accountants, and those in other occupations can all apply through this program. If you are interested in immigrating to Canada permanently, we invite you to complete our free Canadian immigration assessment to determine if you qualify for Canadian Permanent Residency.

hey ae03yy, will tht e-mail received frm Buffalo mean tht my file has been transferred to Ottawa or it will stay with Buffalo?? Which RPC they are talking about?? .. As they didnt mentioned anything in the e-mail like the one 'stanka' has received (e.g. ur file is a part of group of other files..... etc. etc. on page no. 116 under this forum).... ???

Also why am unable to access E-Cas??
My First name is: SHER
Last name is: SINGH

under Medcial Form they have written my Family Name as; SHER SINGH (In capital letters) which is my Full name.
I tried all of my name combinations with clientID/Application#/File#....but still unable to access it

Guys, how many times have you ordered CAIPS? I'm wondering whether I should order my 3rd CAIPS next week.
Hi every one, pls I need a link to apply for Federal application for QUEBEC wokers programm.
thanks

AOR from Buffalo office takes normally 90 or more days. So at this point no news is good news :)
Also, as you already have got CSQ, there is nothing to worry about. Federal application is just a formality now and its just a matter of few months until you will be in Canada as Immigrant. So chill :)
However, I am just curious to know that whats makes you leave your job in USA and move to Quebec, other than immigration reason?

Thanks Mohanna but I don't know what's wrong with it as still am not able to access it :(
If u can't access ecas then inform whoever has ur file. Also tell them about their mistake on medical form and ask them to send another one showing ur first name asap.
Now, regarding who has your file I know it is confusing so I advice you to check whose contact appears in the letter. They will always write the contact info of the office they transfer u to.

Yet if u'r unsure write to Buffalo and cc. Ottawa for a clarification and don't forget to mention you can't access ecas and that there's an error with ur name.

about the pics for medical, always rely on what ur DMP says. I don't think the size matters though as mine allowed me to bring in different pics. He only told me they had to be taken within 6 months and be a total of 4, I think. So ask DMP about pics specs, price for all exams and apptm.

do u have CSQ? If not you need to get one first from Quebec immigration then once you have it send an application to Federal immigration like we did. Also, note timeline changed since that post you quoted. It now takes roughly 30 weeks to have AOR. You can compare the 2011 timeline to get a more precise idea. Buffalo also cashes ur draft after about 2 months of wait for all who applied after June-July 2010

Hi
This is my first message!

CSQ (PEQ Montréal): 12/2010
Federal application sent: 24/05/2011 received at Buffalo: 25/05/2011
Fees cashed: ?? I have difficulties to have information from my bank...
No more news right now ...
I hope news in October! ;D

I have a new passeport since few weeks. I will send a copy at Buffalo monday with my client number (i have found it on my actual work permit). I hope this changement will not have any consequences for the timeline....

@ sher_singh

You don't need your first name to access your e-Case. You however need your File number, your last name, your date of birth, and your country of birth. The File number needs to be assigned by the visa office. You can check your application status at https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en. I hope this help.
