I think once you take the test from outside Canada they put your file in the freezer. Some other member who took the test in October got oath invite 15 days back.

What the hell!? Why? What difference does that make? It’s infuriating… should I just email them on the test invite email and let them know I am returning to Canada?

If the intention to reside in Canada thing was dropped years ago, why would they put your file in a freezer? I’m really pissed off.

Does anyone have similar timeline as mine?
I took the test on March and tracker updated March 30th but there is no other update ever since!
I know many people who applied months after me and already took their certificates!

I gave up on having an update anytime soon. Called IRCC 3 times. Last call (a month ago), the agent said your Physical presence is done but not updated. Everything looks good. It seems the officer did not look at my file since Feb 21, 2022. Not even surprised.

My current passport will expire in the next 6 months. Seems I got to send them a new one once I have it. This might delay again.

Are my application files decomposed?

Oath scheduled for July 4.

How long does it take to get email regarding citizenship ceremony?

Hi all. My husband checked his status and it now says that he is scheduled for his Oath Ceremony on Jul 5 but he did not receive any email saying his status was updated, nor has he received the invitation for the oath ceremony (which has the details on what documents he needs to bring). His status online still says "In progress" and not "decision made" so I'm a bit confused. Has anyone else experienced this?

Update - my husband received the invite via email Jun 10 - so full three weeks before the ceremony schedule on Jul 5

Noticed a few people who are not in Canada during their scheduled Oath Ceremony. While the requirement to reside in Canada is no longer a condition of citizenship, that does not mean you can also take your oath ceremony outside of Canada. Prior to COVID the only way you could obtain your citizenship certificate was to ATTEND an in-person oath ceremony in Canada. The only thing that has changed is the format of the ceremony (being on-line instead of in-person). Do not assume that IRCC will make exceptions for your personal circumstances (except for those listed on the website).

"You need to be in Canada to take the Oath of Citizenship. If you get your invitation while you’re outside Canada, reply to the invitation email to explain your situation in detail.

  • a detailed explanation of your situation

Any Feb applicant still waiting for the “decision made” status like me here? Vancouver applicant here, and I somehow feel I’m the only Feb applicant still waiting for the oath. I took the test about 2 months ago, but not only no oath ceremony has been scheduled for me yet after 1.5 years, but also all items either are in progress or has not started except the test and background verification which are completed. Any applicant in the same boat here? Thanks.

Here is my timeline:

AOR: April 13, 2021
Fingerprint required: September 15, 2021
Fingerprint received: October 28, 2021
Background verification status updated to Completed: October 29th, 2022
Citizenship test taken: May 2nd, 2022
Citizenship test status changed to completed: May 5th, 2022

Anyone else still waiting for their passport? We mailed our certificate on May 16th and still haven't received neither the certificates back nor the passport. Credit card was charged on June 6th though.
