Hi guys,
Sorry I’m writing here when I‘m just about to submit my application, I figured that you already went through it so you might be able to help me with my two questions.
I’m in the process of gathering all the necessary documents for my citizenship application. I’m going through the application form and I have a couple of questions, if you could help me out.

1. Question 11 about what I’ve been doing during my 5 years eligibility period ( work unemployment, homemaker etc.) if I was a freelancer for a couple of months, what do I put in the “name of employer, school, business or other” section and also the ”address of the place of employmen, study or activity “? There was no specific one employer, I worked from home. Should I use my home address?

2. Question 14. listing my travel document. Is my PR card a travel document? Should I just mention my passports?

thanks a lot

1. Yes. your home address will do.

2. Just passports as they are travel documents.
Great, thank you
just to make sure. So in the column where they ask for the name of employer, can I just put “freelance“ or I have to list all the firms that I’ve done even the smallest work For?

Also, this might sound a bit silly. One of my previous passports is a temporary passport, there was a reason why I had that temporary one before I received the current, regular one and I’d like to shortly explain that. Can I use that “table B” underneath to explain it?. Im asking cause it says to use that table if you need to explain why you don’t have a travel document.
thanks again, much appreciated.

1. you can mention self-employed (freelance) and it should be good.
2. Just write all the passports details in table A and share the reason in table B shortly.

The last question I have is about the “acceptable documents to show identity for citizenship application“ it says that I can use “health insurance identification card”.

1. Is this the regular government issued card like OHIP in Ontario?
2. Can I use my passport and that OHIP card As identification documents?
3. Also, is it still okay if my OHIP card expires in two months?

thanks

1. Yes. Its a regular OHIP card.
2. Yes, you can use OHIP or Driver license as well along with the passport.
3. OHIP has the be valid on the date your application is received at IRCC. If it expires after that, it is still acceptable.

Hello everyone. Received AOR today at 8.35am. Please add my application information to the file:

ID: planespotting
Location: Toronto
App. Type: Single
Physical Presence Days: 1120
App sent: Feb 5th, 2020 (Canada Xpresspost with tracking)
App Delivered: Feb 10th, 2020 ( I recall there was a winter storm in Nova Scotia that delayed the mail by a couple of days)
AOR: Sep 10th, 2020

Thank you to everyone who has been sharing their updates as well as frustrations as they eagerly await the AOR. I used to check this February group numerous times a day, but stopped/ chilled out since more and more people were posting positive AOR news. So it was just a matter of time, especially when tracking the trend in AOR dates.

What a nice present especially considering the fight that Raptors put up yesterday (Wednesday) in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals Game #6.
Let's go Raptors!!

Congrats.
But we have the big hurdle now - the citizenship test.

Keep tweeting CIC & also your local MP. The more people ask them the more responsive they will be.

You are absolutely right!

Getting an AOR without the test means nothing ...

To be honest, that means only one thing: That Canada has stopped granting citizenship, de facto (in fact, in practice) to all applicants after March 2020, having had their test dates canceled, or to come .

There is no more citizenship because more test (The test is a legal condition to obtain the citizenship). We should not therefore rejoice for a simple aor.

You have to make noise ... Or have to wait years and years. (Code 699 allowing federal employees to be paid with our taxes without doing anything + their very very powerful union, which would be able to demand a daily rate of covid infection of zero people before returning to work = Years and years additional to wait...
But also a risk of a majority conservative government in the meantime = risk of retroactive citizenship law change = your envelopes will be returned to you with refund.
