IRCC is a federal agency and as such responsible under the IRPA, administrative law and the constitution. Once the application is approved and a COPR issued, if it expires, IRCC will have to renew it again, if not, they can be legally compelled to as it is their legal duty.

Eventually, as travel restriction ease, as more Canadians get vaccinated, the borders will open. Currently you can travel to Canada of your are exempt, or have a study permit or work permit.
What about the applications under process.point 1

Thanks for your reply. Seems good that they are making progress on your application. Mine didn’t move for a very long time. How soon could it be from background check not started at all to completing it? thanks.

That's one more exemple of the IRCC's mystery...

It's quite frustrating, but you need to find patience somehow. Covid-19 is still impacting Canada significantly (including employment numbers). We can only wait and hope for resolution soon....

Congrats! Could you share how do you know when the background check was completed? Is it only showing up on the online portal after CoPR, or you saw it through the GCMS notes? Also wondering if there are any GUs prior to CoPR. Thanks
