Hi

I have a question on name change or dropping a part of given name.

My name is AAAA Kumar BBBB. Its a Indian name and is kind of middle name but when i moved to canada it became part of my given name because my indian passport has AAAA Kumar as given name.

I got my citizenship certificate on this name i.e AAAA Kumar BBBB. My provincial driving licence has AAAA BBBB and other documents have AAAA Kumar BBBB.

Now i want to apply canadian passport, My preference for name is AAAA BBBB and drop Kumar from it, should i apply with AAAA Kumar BBBB or AAAA BBBB. I have driving licence to prove i use AAAA BBBB as my name.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passport/apply/name-change.asp

As per the link above, would it be considered a legal name change or just dropping a given name.

Thank you in advance everyone.

Is the processing guaranteed in 12 months, or conditions apply ?
My friend if your file is non routine then for sure 12 months or less as we all can see that alot of members already got test invite and some of them received oath.if your application is considered as non routine or for ex that ask u extra docs or like finger prints then it might take some extra time. I will tell you with my experience.
I have no criminal background I am all clear but I got selected for finger prints, as finger prints are done now I am just waiting for test invite.
I my self called contact ctr and asked what is happening as in if they need something else from me. So lady over phone told me that everything seems to be good and your security check is complete now just wait for test invite.... I my self consider my application as non routine but doesn't matter to me because I know end of day I will get my citizenship .... And I'm already holding European citizenship so again I'll say it's all about patience it is process which they have to follow.

Thank you

Congratulations! Mine is still in Progress since last 5 months. Call center is useless, I was told background checks are complete and I should wait to get the test invite when I called them 4 weeks ago. Called them again last week and now they are saying background checks are in process. God knows what is going on!
