Quick update: Test went well. We found it pretty easy (native english speakers) but definitely need to read the Discover Canada book and do a few online tests to prep - there were some questions eg. dates, names, that could have confused us if we hadn't studied a little. Afterwards the C Officer spoke to us individually, checked basic documents and then told us she had approved our application and we would be getting an invitation to attend oath ceremony in 2 to 4 months. Woo hoo. ECAS shows as 'Decision Made' with no other additional detail since the test invite update.

Hope all of you waiting for updates hear back soon.

Congrats Vangel. Pretty lucky to have the core processing completed within a few months. Just out of curiosity, did you have any travel made outside Canada? I have a feeling that those with minimum or nil outside travel will be processed faster. I have a friend in Surrey, BC who applied in May 2015 and the whole processing completed in just 5 months. He did not traveled outside Canada since landed.
:)

Hi cool - thanks for the update.

Heard nothing here at all. No test dates in the mail. No updates on ECAS beyond "we started processing your application".

It does seem very office-specific - I guess Surrey office are just slower than Vancouver. Slightly frustrating considered we applied at more or less the same time and live a few miles away from each other! ;p

Hoping to hear this week - mind u I've been saying that for 4 weeks now :)

:)
My office will be Surrey BC (we live in Langley, so Surrey is closet) and we seem to be taking longer than Vancouver applicants so there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the timelines.

We traveled outside Canada a few times to USA on business and vacation, and a couple of vacations to the UK.

I guess no news is good news in a way - at least if they'd have found any problems with our application they'd probably have contacted us by now.

Hi all,

Well just got back from work and we have our test invitations! Letter dated 22nd April and the test date is 7th June. This over 6 weeks from invitation to test which seems longer than a lot of others - I think maybe Surrey BC office is backed up a bit compared to some of the others.

Who knows.

Ah well, PR doesn't expire until mid October this year so hopefully we'll get Oath Ceremony before then! :)

Hope everyone else waiting gets their test invitations soon.

Cappuccino.

1 we are going to India trip in November - December 2016 ( 1 month approx)

2 as cic website shows the time processing is 5 months- is it include up to oath ceremony ?
if I apply citizenship application in 1st week of May can I get citizenship certificate before November or just test date ?

3 If I will be appeared in test and hopefully pass , after, that can I leave Canada on my PR card & Indian passport for India visit ???? And Shall I inform to CIC regarding my India visit.

Please guide me as earliest possible coz I can not postpone my India visit .

Thanks

The current processing time of 5 months is till Decision made. The oath/ certificate can still take 1-2 months. If you are away for test or oath, you still have the option of rescheduling it.
The processing time can still wary depending on the location with Toronto side a bit slower due to more applicants. Western region is comparatively faster.
