Sorry to hear that.

Are you using the same payment receipt - or was it necessary to make a new payment and try to claim a refund on the old one?

Also can I please ask, how long from AOR was it before you received your application back?

I am just wondering do CIC return applications back after issuing AOR's? If so, at which stage do we know that the application is complete and will not be returned back?

Please advice ...

Hi Wayne,

I am not sure if we should do that with all supporting documents!!

This is because in the Instruction Guide under the "Reminders..." section (i.e., located just after Step 4. Mail the application), it is stated that "You have included original translation and an affidavit by the translator for any documents that are not in English or French" in order to avoid application being returned.

It is a bit confusing :'( :'( :'( cause in section "6. Additional documents (as required)" under "Step 1. Gathering documents" of the Instruction Guide, it is stated that the required format for "translations of documents that are not in English or French" is "Clear and legible photocopy".

More confusing you will get once you read what is written under "Translation of documents" section where they stated the following:

Translation of documents

Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:
the English or French translation; and
an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
a certified copy of the original document.

Therefore, I was thinking it would be a good idea to send the original of those supporting document (original translation) with the application. Or, at least a certified copy of original pages!!

My apologies for the over-simplification. In our case all our documents were photocopies because we did not have any documents which were not in English or French.

Of course you should always check the Instruction Guide.

I believe AOR simply means they have opened the application to confirm they've received it.

I believe the application will not go "In Process" if it is returned as incomplete, so I think once you go "In Process" from "Application Received" you can be reasonably sure they deem the application to be complete.

Hi Cappuccino
so I just returned the package with same payment receipt, there was no instruction indicating to do otherwise! We never got an AOR, so it seems the AOR is an indication of a complete application received.

ecas is active. Status is showing: Application Received

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on February 19, 2016.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on February 29, 2016.

I'm assuming the Discover Canada book is a hard copy, anyone got theirs yet?

Cheers..

I received my AOR (via email) on the 29th of February as well. You can download the book (pdf file) and start going thru it. Next step is having the application "In Process"

Good luck ...

Has anyone got the following line on their ECAS status?
Your file was transferred to the XXX Citizenship Operations office on YYY. The XXX Citizenship Operations office will contact you

Wondering if they still put that in, or if there is nothing between going in process and the invitation to take the test?

Is it that fast? We all just sent in our applications.

Btw, what's the processing times under the new laws? (I know the CIC website says under 12 months, but how reliable is it? And what are your personal experiences?).
Thanks

You may wish to look at the following spreadsheet for applicants under the new rules :-
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HO2bMpPOII6R0N7q3oULrAgA27LJYaz3l9fMWcGaOms/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0

Note that times are tumbling as both the Centralized Intake Office and the local Citizenship offices are clearing their backlogs. I heard by the end of March all local citizenship offices are expected to have completely cleared their backlogs.

Looking at how the timelines are developing - I would say processing times from application received to oath ceremony is likely to be in the region of 3 to 5 months for straightforward cases.

I didn't have anything between 'in process' and test invite. I also didn't get anything between test invite and complete, my ECAS was never updated with oath invite. Everything was super fast for me, my local office was Windsor

Hello,

I have been able to check the ECAS status of my application since it was activated last week. However, I could not do so today. I am getting the same message I used to get before my ECAS was activated, "We were not able to identify you using the information you provided ..........................."

Has anyone faced the same problem?

I just noticed my file has been 'in processing' since Feb 23rd.

Congrats Rayan14 ..

Do you mean your status was just updated today or you did not check it out before?

Congrats !!!, Looks like CIC would at least try to adhere to the 12 months processing time guidelines, yet no promises. They always have some or other excuse or tricks to justify delays. Now after test and everything, they are asking for Finger Print to borrow few more months.
