Hi All!

Newbie poster here but my application has been IP since September 3rd 2014 and my application was received on February 26th, 2014. I can't believe how long the wait is taking, its 16 months at the end of June for my processing time. I am originally from England so I'm not too sure if that is holding up the process, but my friend who submitted his application in December 2013 was granted his PR in October 2014 (also from England) and another friend of mine submitted hers in June 2014 (from Brazil) and was granted her PR in May of this year.

The wait is very long and tiring, I hope we hear something soon as I am not able to get through to CIC since over 2 months ago where they told me they are waiting on my background check results and they don't need anything else from me and have not yet received my GCMS notes.

I hope good news comes to us all soon!

Hello jrcazza,

You and I have very similar timelines. My application was received by CIC on Feb. 27, 2014 and just last week a final decision was made on my application. Although, I'm still waiting for the big one from CIC which is the request to submit my passport for Visa. Just hang on tight, your situation is not unique...quite a number of people on this forum have similar delays as ours. May God help us all!

Delgado - Do you know when your medicals were extended and how long it took after that until DM?

My medicals just got extended ( i think this week).

Also - we dont know how CIC works....i have read on this forum that PNP applications were audited...I am guessing applications are audited on a random basis...those who are caught in the audit loop have something like this -

No Audit - PPR in about 10-12 months

Audit - Medical expire - 3 month medical renew delay - Overall process delayed by minimum 3-4 months + audit time.

Hi vermanman,

My medical got extended on May 6,2015 to May 6, 2016 but my file was not updated until about a week later, as per what the call center agent told me when I called to know the status of my application 2 weeks ago.

Apparently,we're in the same boat, which means we're all stuck in background checks. I heard people say it might take from 6 months to 2 years to finish BC.
I got my first GCMS notes last month, nothing weird but criminality still in progress since my application was received. So I guess there's nothing we can do but wait.

Are you from England too? And do they mean 6 months to 2 years in TOTAL? Cause I don't think I can last another 2 years additionally on this 16 months already. It's crazy! I went through a Lawyer and they've said they can contact CIC at the end of the new time line of 16 months (which is end of June for me) so hopefully by then they will shine some light on the whole thing. It really sucks because I want to start a new job and it's impossible for me to do that whilst waiting on my PR and having no idea when its going to come through. I hope we get good news soon!

Interesting that some medicals have been extended and some (in my case) required re-assessment.

From the CIC website, it says that the re-assessment process is only available in situations where an officer’s final decision is pending only due to the medical certificate’s expiration or when the expiration date of the medical certificate is approaching and the applicant is unable to land beforehand.

Anyone else who went through re-assessment?

Keep the faith!

in land applicants who have lived for the past 2 years in canada dont require re-assessments. usually reassessments are for people outside canada.

No, buddy, I'm from China. I was told that my application has officially been delayed because of the background checks. Since the results of the investigations are given by CSIS, CIC cannot disclose any information about it. The processing time for background check could be 6 months to 2 years and Yes, it could be added onto the average processing time.

Hi everyone,

Since we are all waiting for ppr, i have a question in my mind. Do you guys think that most of us are working under Food Service Supervisor or similar job And yesterday one of my friend just told me about it and his uncle is an immigration lawyer.. he said his uncle has an idea about this.
Also Two of my friend also waiting like us and they are working as food service supervisor.
So lets see from all of us if we are all working under similar job.
any idea

Hi Sumitsra!

Yup, I am a food service supervisor with first stage nomination approval from the province of Alberta.

I have another colleague who is also a food service supervisor, with the same application date as mine and his family is now in Canada.

Strange that that could be an issue but would like to know what your friend says. Thank you!

He said to me that CIC just put pnp Pr application on the side untill they will have instruction to release and all of them are Food service supervisor or other food service related lower skills jobs. He was saying why i did not re-apply in express entry instead of waiting. And i just got confuse by thinking if its right.

And funny thing is all our file are waiting for background check only??? Why the rest of application have been cleared in normal time frame of 8 to 12 month and our need 4 to 8 extra month to do back ground check.

Hi there, I don't work in the food industry, I work in media and still waiting. Got my Notes through yesterday from CIC and as the rest of you, security is my hold up it even says "not started" from a month ago which is not a good sign... guess we shall just have to wait for longer!
