Quick question. Will the VO inform the applicant that they are approved via email and then ask them to send their passport? If so, does the applicant send it via DHL? And once the visa is ready where dothey go to pick it up? Or does the VO send it straight to the home address? I was just wondering because I heard that one person had to go pick up their visa at IOM office where they did the medical exam.

I'm sorry for rambling on...

Hi there,

I'm curious as to other's timelines. I feel confused because when my American husband and I consulted a long-time immigration lawyer, and retired Canada Customs officer, he said family spousal sponsorship takes 6-12 months. Of course, the CIC website lists it as a solid 90 day part 1 and 12 month part 2 process--I wonder, is it wishful thinking to think he might be right?

I received notice that my sponsorship was approved on June 7th; I wonder if it's 12 months from THAT date, or the original February date when I submitted it. Finally, I believe the Buffalo office is closed for permanent resident applications from the US. When my husband did his medical check-up in Canada, he had them list the Buffalo office as his primary processing center--Do you think they would have all related mail re-routed to the current office in Ottawa? I hope so. I wonder if it's worth bothering them by checking. :(

Hi everyone,

after long long tym my ecas is showing "in process" today...can anyone tell me how much tym do they take after it is in process as status...approx time if anyone can throw some light...thnx in advance

all mail from Buffalo is re-routed to Ottawa. The 12 months for step 2 is bases on your sponsorship approval date not the date you filed

I was just about to call you!!! He got PPR we are next!!!Woohooooo! This is a great day!

I got up early because I was excited about the in processes and pr's people are getting. LOL. I keep checking ours on the CIC site and on here hoping that you're next. I think with my case, we might have an additional delay of a month or two, so I'm not getting my hopes up about hearing anything soon. If you or Computergeek get something soon, I will be a happy camper!

Still waiting to hear from my VO....file was transferred 2 months ago.... :-[

I am not sure of the time line, but I have read on other forums that when it show "in process" then you are in the final stages and you will soon be hearing from your VO in regards to bringing your passport in.

I would say that if your application has alot of issues then you will be looking at the enire 12 months (ie: criminal record, previous stays in other countries, previous divorce, child sponsorship) but if it is straightforward then the process seems to be getting completed alot faster now. I think they put the 12 months as a guideline for the cases that are more complicated.

Hello, I think your VO will inform you by phone or email regarding your passport and it can be send in by DHL or brought into the VO if you are close. They will inform you when you can pick it up, as for getting DHL to pick it up, i am unsure of this sorry. I cannot see them getting someone to pick it up at the medical office though, that seems a bit strange to me.

Chickie72 did you get your sponsor approval yet? Just catching up on some spreadsheet updates.

Sadly no :( Still waiting on some of hubbys documents. THey have had his son's birth certificate app since July 3 and still waiting for them to process, they called the mother the other day and said she should have it by next week, then it is on to wait for the passport and then the medicals for all three of them. My hubby and his daughter are all sorted out, just waiting on the son's stuff now. Then all 3 can go together for the medicals. :( Things happen for a reason, so I am just here waiting lol how goes it with your application? what process are you in now>
