Supportmama, could you not be a co-applicant on there? I think that is like a co-signer.

hi chickie no she cannot; the co-signer can b just a spouse or commonlaw partner, just in cases where the income is a requirement like sponsorring parents or other family members (i study this before thinking i would make my mom a co-signer hihihi)

Hi Lambchop,
My daughter is just getting married 26JUN12 in Cuba to her fiancee. We are preparing the immigration papers to take with us, so get his documents and signature. This way when we come back my daughter can submit everything to CIC-M.
Our worry is that even though by CIC she does not require a minimum income, but maybe her being university student and having just part-time job could be a factor. She lives at home with us and when her husband finally gets here (hopefuly soon) they will live with us for a couple of years. So would it help if us, parents would attach an affidavit to her Sponsorship package stating that we are covering her and her fiancee/husband financially?
Perhaps ir is just a paranoia, I heard people got accepted as sponsor without even part time job, just as university student. Biut I guess it is rare.
Thanks ::)

hi Supportmama don't worry she will b fine :) both u and ur husband can write an affidavit for ur daughter (that both her and her husband can live with u and u would help them financially for as long as they need); my parents did that for me (we r outside Canada and when the visa is ready we would probably live with them at the beginning); good luck!!

Hi there! I know someone that married and sponsored a Cuban man about 5 years ago that was a university student not working (she claimed OSAP as her income) and he was here within 5 months, no problems! I just got married to my husband (who is also Cuban) in January. If you guys have any questions at all about the paperwork (the barcode form is really complicated for Cuba) just let me know. I sent in our application on Feb. 1.

Thanks :)
I tried logging into ecas with UCI number but it's not working.

Jot1988,

You may have to login using your husband's (sponsor's) details such as DOB, place of birth, etc. I am sponsoring my wife and I tried logging in with her details and it didn't work until I put my own and the UCI number received.

It looks like we both are on the same boat... looking at the filed date, AOR received, file transfer date to New Delhi, etc.

Good Luck to all!

Santanaleb, congratulations on getting your AOR, soon (1 - 2 weeks) you should receive something saying you have been approved as sponsor or not. Yeah they are getting to to mine if you were the 27th........woot woot!

hi chickie72 thanks for the info ,and ya they gettin to ur app u never got anything from therm ?we have the same timeline ...

That is awesome! You will get approval SOON! Check ecas with your UCI, that will probably tell you that you've been approved before anything else.

Hmmm... I don't know about that. I got my approval letter by snail mail but the ecas still shows as "In Process" and "the approved letter has been sent" - It doesn't tell me what the final decision is on my application [although I know it now]. So, I am not sure what the deal is...

Having said the above a friend of mine sponsored his wife last fall and he told me that the CIC in home country will sent a separate letter to the applicant with totally a different UCI then the one that's provided to a sponsorer. Based on what I hear that letter could come via email or by snail mail. Either way, that's the UCI number should be used from here on to track the application after an application has been transferred to home country. Anybody else can confirm this?

Ecas doesn't tell you the decision but when you see decision made, you pretty much know the day you got approved. Plus you can call and they'll tell you on the phone.

The numbers you get at approval are good throughout the process for checking ecas.

We sent our application from the UK around the 12th February by mail. Because we mailed everything in we don't have a UCI number to check the website. I contacted London who told me I had to contact Canada but cannot ring the Call Centre from the UK (it won't connect). Has anyone had a similar situation? We have a receipt number when we paid online but that is it, and the website won't let me check using that. I am due to have a baby in 4 weeks and am desperate to find out what is going on. We don't even know if they received the application in the first place. For all we know it could have gotten lost in the mail. This is so frustrating!!!!

Don't worry they got your app. For some reason early feb applicants are waiting a long time. It's not just you. It's possible your approval letter is in the mail. I got an AOR otherwise I'd have no clue I was approved two weeks ago because the letter has not arrived yet. You can call and talk to someone.

Congrats on your soon to be newborn!

Thank you so much for the phone number. I have been looking for ages online to try and find one and the London office were useless (and completely rude). I just want to know they have the application. That is my main priority. I just called the phone number and some very uninterested guy told me that by searching with our receipt number they don't have any information on our application yet but that he cannot comment on it because that only means they have not processed it.
