I just talked to my husband on the phone. He just had interview at the visa office of Rabat.

I think we will be refused. I feel just like crying. The interview lasted 40 minutes and the officers did not want our emails or pictures even though my husband wanted to give them.

They told him they must do a criminal investigation, something about security. My husband laughed at that as he did nothing wrong and he told them. They said the investigation will take 4 to 6 months.

They told him that there are 2 possibilities. He might get a refusal letter in 2 months or a acceptance letter in 4 to 6 months. The husband whose wife is also in Canada who passed an interview before my husband was told there are 99% chances he will get his visa.

Even though I feel quite low and depressed, my husband said he has a good feeling. He answered very well the questions.

Since when they mention a criminal investigation in an interview??? What do you think? Is it normal procedures?

Thank you for your word of encouragement! I know that background/security checks are normal part of the process. But I don't understand why they did not do them BEFORE the interview. I read so many stories here and never I read a case like my husband. I never read about a visa officer mentioning these security checks in an interview! And I never read about a visa officer saying that my husband could get a refusal letter. It is like he was preparing him for the possible bad news....

How much time they give you to send the passport to get the visa? My passport is going to expire next week....
I did not have passports for my children and did not know I needed them for immigration, so when I got the email that they needed my passports, I had to really quickly apply for them and pay extra to get them back quicker, but then I was still able to mail them in with in the 30 that you are suppose to mail them in to them. So renew now and if you can pay extra to get it back faster do that.

Thank you! that's what i need to know....so they give you 30 days to send your passport after they request it! I will renew my passport today by mail, and i suppose to get it back in 4 weeks. Buffalo didn't request my passport yet, i'm still in process since Sept 6, 2011. I think im on time to get my passport renew back. Thanks again.

Hi I am new to the site as I have been looking for help regarding the processing time of my PR app... It seems to be taking f.o.r.e.v.e.r. I think that's the case with everyone though.

I'm from Seattle, WA and my husband is Canadian.

Married dec 11
Filed Jan 28
Husband approved to sponsor Feb 28
App received in buffalo March 7

I'm not sure I'm in the right group but hopefully I am welcome here!
Who is still playing the CIC waiting game like me? >:(

Hi seattlegirl. We have a couple other applicants going through Buffalo from Feb 2011 still waiting for word on the finalising of their applications. (Technically you would be in the Jan group, but we won't kick you out!). Apparently there has been a delay with some applications filed in Buffalo between Dec 2010 and Feb 2011, as others who applied later (March and April) have received PR but they are still waiting.

I am going through Kingston, and definitely still playing the waiting game. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome it will be nice to discuss the frustration (and joy when it comes) no one I talk to seems to understand how aggravating the whole 11 month process is..

My attorney contacted me today to tell me no new updates :( and to prepare myself to wait the duration.. I was hoping people would tell me otherwise. It seems many applications haven't taken the full estimated time, I'm praying that's my case.

:) You will find that immigration is one of those things in life that a lot of people have an opinion about, which they know asbolutely nothing about personally nor ever will. At least here, we're among people walking the same road.

All we can do is continue living our lives until this is behind us, and loving our spouses as best we can from afar.

Ok Im confused now.On my CAIPS notes the last update was In July and It says my sons medical Is passed and mine Is In progress.Security and criminality isnt started but again there hasnt been an update since July. But In ecas It says we started processing your app In Sep.If they just started processing It then how did the medicals already pass In July?Does the In process meen the final step before you get PPR and everything Is done?

What exactly an "In process" update means these days is open to question. There was a time when it meant you were close to being finalised, especially as this update would come shortly before applicants received PPR, such as from Buffalo and London.

Nowadays...I'm not so sure, as the dates when people are getting "In process" are closer to when the file was initially received than when it was being processed months later. For example, my "In Process" says they began processing my file 5 days after the received it. To which my only response can be, "Kingston? Yeah, right. Pffffttt!"

I think eCAS updates should be taken with a truckload of salt right now until GCMS is fully in place and CIC gets around to explaining exactly what stage you are at when you get the various updates.

Yeah I just couldnt figure out how medicals passed In July and I just went into process In September.Your wright about Buffalo they usualy dont give you In Process till the end.So I was hopeing the In Process ment they where getting ready to request my pp.

Its been to quiet here the last few days, not a good sign.
