Good luck to you and your family fellow Ottawan.

As such, by experience, our application was returned roughly within 2 weeks.

Originally sent: Feb 17
Originally received: Feb 20

When the application was returned, the cover letter had a date of Feb 23, and stamp marked on Feb 24. We received it back either Mar 2 or 3.

If there are no returns by this week, let's assume your application is complete.

Thank you hgn. I really wanted an input from you about the timeline for the return of incomplete applications.
Good Luckto you!

I am sure these options were not available earlier, are they restricted based on Members Profile type.

Guess one needs to have certain number of posts before you get the full member status...
but then u just have to keep posting 20 posts are easy!!

I know this may sound really stupid, but I'm just curious to know! :D

How will the Indian authorities come to know that someone has acquired the Canadian citizenship/passport? How will they find out if we travel with the Indian passport, after getting the citizenship?

Sure they wouldn't know when u travel to India. Problem is when you return then they would know if you use the Canadian pp u will be in trouble...

and this is from a immihelp site

I wouldn't try this...

Hello,
I finally got time to get the renunciation certificate. So I went to the travisa website thinking I just have to pay the $20 to get that. But once I started filling out the form, it also added $250 penalty. Here are my dates
Became US citizen in July 2001
Got US passport in Aug 2001
My last indian passport was issued in 1999 and hence expired in 2009.
Once I got my US passport, I never used my Indian Passport.

But I still got tagged with the $250 penalty. They rule they say is " If the most recent Indian passport is retained for more than 3 years after acquisition of citizenship of another country, a penalty of $250.00 will be automatically calculated as a part of the Order Form except where the most recent Indian passport expired before January 1, 2005 or where the most recent Indian passport shows a 'Cancelled' stamp. In addition, a penalty of $250.00 will be charged for each case of misuse of the Indian passport for travel after 3 months of acquisition of citizenship of another country subject to a maximum penalty of $1250.00."

This is not right. The rule did not exist (or I did not know) about it till 2009. So how would I have known to get the renunciation done?

I have an Indian friend who worked at the immigration office in India (I am not Indian). He mentioned about a shared database of these kinds of cases. People who have failed to apply for the OCI (is that correct?) etc.

Congratulations to all who have received their AOR.

I am still waiting for the AOR and hopefully, I will received in coming few weeks. I have updated my details in the excel sheet.

Cheers !

My application was received by DONNIE at SHIP DOCK.

Is there anyone else who has seen the similar info on the tracking details of their career's (Purolator, FedEx etc.) website?
