Hi. I'm going to apply in couple of days, and want to see if it's OK to send along documents for proof of residency (Notice of Assessment, Rental Agreement, etc.)?

Hey Guys,

I am a bit worried. I live in Trenton, ON (really close to Belleville) so I am not sure which CIC office my application will be transferred to. I am just concerned because I received confirmation from Canada post that my application was received on Feb 7th, 2014 - it was signed on Feb 4th.

I just saw in the Citizenship and Immigration website that "Effective February 6, 2014, the processing fee for adult grant (including adult adoption) and adult resumption applications has increased. Applications received on or after February 6, 2014 that do not include the correct processing fee will be returned."

Does this mean my application will be returned since I only paid the $200 fee? (the $400 fee was not even available when I processed my payment :( )

Thanks!,

I know. This is really unfortunate. I just called the call centre and the agent said "it is possible they will return my application". He also said himself that he did not understand the logic behind it! I would have paid the $400 without a problem If I was able to do it online!!!

Very disappointing start to the process... :(

@Snaket, Your application will be returned due to unpaid fees. You will have to re-submit it with a receipt of $400. I saw it in some thread here that you can pay the difference online. Don't know exactly how... ???

Hope this helps!!!

Send whole package again with additional fee amount without waiting for them to return your application.

Mention this in your covering letter that due to incorrect fee paid earlier, you are submitting whole application again.
you will save time.

@canadp I think that makes sense. I will get working on it this weekend. I guess my application is now going to cost me $600. I am just wondering if there is any chance they actually won't return it? What would happen in that case - if they get two applications?

Cheers!This is a great community!

I called CIC. Your package will be surely returned. Pay your fee balance and Make another package and submit it with the two receipts and a letter describing it. I did that already

I just called an agent and he told me I can send the whole application with the new fees. Once they return my old application I can get a refund on it.

I will do that, I'm glad it's only a 10 day delay rather than a couple of months.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions

In north America either in CANADA or USA, if there is any money owe by the government they will definitely return to you with interest if its late.

I got so many experience where I was not aware of the refund or I made a mistake, however I get my money back.

So if you paid extra money, CIC will return to you.
