@Thomasdanr: it probably means they sent your FBI police certificate and you're good to go. But i guess you could call and ask them?

When I called about 1 week ago, I was told that they receive about 2500 applications every day. Maybe that's why.
But I still think the process can be made faster. They can for example open a portal for people to submit a scanned version of the ink fingerprint cards and digitize the entire application process. Right now, I think they are using the traditional method of opening envelopes and entering data on a computer.
In any case, this FBI thing is an absolute pain in the ass!

Woah that is huge! I commend them for processing such huge number of applications per day. Its not doubt that they receive these numbers as everyone wants to get Criminal BG check for job or renting purpose here.

Oh come on. 2500 for huge America should be nothing. In my country just one state applications are even more Ghana that .....all processed by local police stations everywhere ......report takes about 4 to 5 days
Wait of 3to 4 months for apartment or job is just too much. It's doesn't even look viable. I don't know how Americans are living with it........ I mean nothing at all would take that long .......think about exam results, or medical result or applying and getting job interview can u imagine even one thing that takes that long .......worst is that it doesn't take that long to do the check ( I would have appreciated if it was, that the check so nicely) . It's just backlog ......crazy ....just backlog. They can once clear all backlog and come to terms with it. They are consistent with 3 to 3.5 months. If they clear their backlog only once they will reach to current applications. It's the worst service I came across all throughout my life and I think it will hold its position of being worst for coming years of my life too

Citizens can use third party vendors/channelers to get the clearance in few days. So this issue is only for us.

Hi Guys,

I am planning to upload the LOE seeking extension on PCC deadline. Can anyone let me know if it's needed to mention in the LOE the no. of weeks you might be looking for an extension or CIC does that at their own?

Also, does FBI provide any email which mentions the processing window and current application dates being processed and if so, how do you get that?

Actually, when it comes to applying to CIC, currently only the report directly issued by FBI is accepted:

'Citizenship and Immigration Canada does not accept FBI police certificates issued by FBI-approved third party private companies. Only police certificates issued directly by the FBI will be accepted.'

So, US citizens/residents don't have an advantage over us in this respect.

However, I heard that at one point, during a very narrow time window, reports by 3rd party channelers were accepted.

Anyone know whether husband's and wife's FBI reports come in a single courier or 2 separate couriers?

I send both of our's fingerprints to FBI in a single package.

They charge the CC first, then process the fingerprints about a week or so later.

Are you sure about the date? My arrived on Sep/25/2015, but my credit card has not been charged yet. How comes?

I was mentioning that for getting job and rental and stuff they have this option. Yes at cic level everyone needs to get it from fbi directly. Your tracking of this information is correct. I heard that they accepted it till a while ago but not sure if it was a short period.
