i need little help,,
when u guys get request from CIC about police clearance for US ,,did they specifically mentioned about FBI police clearance certificate or just US police clearnce,,in my email they just say ,,A US police certificate....can i send them state clearance

I got this requested in Sept. They "clearly" mentioned they want the FBI PCC along with the word "original". So yes, it is the FBI.

You may be able to convince them to accept the state PCCs only if you have a lot of evidence of trying for FBI PCC i.e. at least multiple rejections.

There are two stages of processing. First: They open the application, enter your details e.g. name and address, and take your money. This process is being done on applications received in late Oct.

The second stage is when they scan your fingerprints into the system and search for any criminal convictions. This process is being done for applications received in late Sept/early Oct.

Hope this clarifies it for you.

oh ok,,,but in my request they just mention US pcc let me copy my email here

Dear Applicant,
We are writing with regards to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
After an initial review of this file by our office, we require the following information:
- An updated Pakistani police certificate
- A US police certificate

they never mentioned fbi just Us police certificate

Hello, I have a question regarding this:

My local police station in Canada said they don't do ink-based cards anymore. The fingerprints are sent to the RCMP electronically, who then send the results back to the local police station and we get a printoff, which we can then send to the FBI. Is this acceptable for the FBI instead of using their provided "FD-258 Fingerprint Card"? Is this considered "Live scan"?

I have the same timeline. The credit card was cashed on 08 of January.
Still waiting for processing to be completed.

I'm sorry I did not mention this before, but I am under CPC-O. Each VO makes the determination of what they expect. You can always try sending the State PCCs, but I doubt they would accept it. CPC-O explicitly mentioned original FBI certificate.

I am in the US and I got the FBI PCC. Yes, they take the fingerprints electronically, and then they print it on the Finger print cards.

So it was not ink-based. However, this is on the FD-258 card. I'm not sure if they would accept the non-FD-258 cards. I have no clue if this is considered Live Scan.

Please also look at pg. 51 of this thread for two posts by akashsar. He mentioned that he printed the FD-258 card on a A4 paper and took the impressions on it. Can you have it done like that i.e. printed on an A4 paper that already has the FD-258 printed out on it.

Does what the local police in Canada give you have all the information that the FD-258 asks for? Are the fingers rolled in the correct way? If yes, then you can consider sending it. If you are unsure, send multiple applications. First send what the Canada police give you, and then you can always send another application once you figure out how to get these prints in the correct way.

App received by FBI on 31st oct. Just called them and they said they are working on it. Call back in 2 weeks.
They verified us by zipcode and names

Friends,

I lived in US till 2003. Do I need PCC from FBI/State too?

Is PCC required from all the places where you have lived after 18 years of age or during last 10 years?

Thank you

Spinning_sponsor : if you are in GTA area, try hooking up with worldwide forensic services, Mississauga or Scarborough. They can print you electronically and print them on fd-258 using an fbi approved printer

Here is more info

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18.
