FBI PCC needed?

Hi all,

Regarding PCC...
1) Landed in May 2015 while living in the US
2) Moved to Canada permanently in March 2018 from US. Have been living in the US since landing.
3) Applying for Citizenship probably next month

Other than US, I haven't stayed in any other country for more than a few weeks in the past 4 years.

Do I still need PCC from the US? Based on this:

You don’t need to provide a police certificate if

• you were in your country of origin immediately prior to becoming a permanent resident and landing in Canada, and
• this time falls within the past 4 years

My interpretation is that you do because you *officially* landed and became a permanent resident in 2015, which would be 6 years ago. You seem to be counting the 2018 date instead.

I assume the exemption applies because most people will have submitted their PCCs together with the PR apps. Since you left Canada for 3 years after you landed, you will have time outside Canada that they cannot verify themselves.

I have a question, I know a person who has landed in 2015 from USA and permanently moved to Canada in Aug 2017. Prior to moving in 2017, he was living in USA, Applying for citizenship in April 2021. His eligibility period is from Apr-2016 to Apr 2021. Of that his 4-yr period is Apr 2017-Apr 2021. Does he need an FBI certificate as he only accumulated 140+ days (Apr 2017 - Aug 2017)? I have suggested him NO, but I just wanted to make sure I told him correct.
