Hello All,

I am supposed get PCC clearances from FBI and also CA, TX and OH states. Is there a need to include stamped return postage? None of the instructions at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp
seem to request return postage. Right now, I am doing this from Chennai India, so I am kind of concerned about the return postage.

Does anyone know if state of Ohio accepts fingerprints done on FBI cards? The website instructions seems to imply a BCI fingerprint card. While I was in the US, I got a bunch of fingerprints done on FBI cards at local county sheriff's office, unfortunately I was not aware of this Ohio requirement at that time.

Anyone with any experience with Ohio state PCC, please share your opinion.

Thank You you so much!

OC

I done ohio ppc. they are very slow and disorganized. I live out of ohio and had to request to be sent their cards in the mail. the mail I got weeks later was all wet and couldnt be used. I asked to be sent new ones. Got fingerprints done at local police and sent back to ohio. Spoke to them on the phone and I was quoted 10 days to have it returned to me. Well, I waited 10 days and nothing. Called again and they said "whoever told you it was 10 days was wrong it takes up to 30 days to be processed". I was not happy. It looks as if you do electronic fingerprints it takes 10 days but you have to be in the state for that otherwise only card ones.

After some 20 odd days I got the letter of no record in the mail.

Im not going to say I had a bad experience with them but I had to do 2 more other states and all the other ones were so much quicker and convenient.

Hi OC,

No, return postage is not necessary, I also live outside the US and have received my PCC's without return postage (there was one exception, but even then it was not required).

SOME states have the option of using a courier service (e.g. UPS, Federal Express), if you chose that option, then you have to pay in advance. (I did not see that option for Ohio).

If you are concerned about reliable delivery to India (? don't know if it's a problem or not), is there someone in the US who can receive the PCCs for you?

If you read the instructions on the State of Ohio website, it clearly states that you cannot use the FBI card for the Ohio PCC. You must request the Ohio card by telephone (a single lousy option, to be sure). Perhaps someone in the States can do that for you?

There is also an exemption form you have to download & send... (exemption to the use of web-based fingerprint services).

Thanks for responding. I called up Ohio BCI&I and spoke to them about clearance for Canadian Immigration. The officer whom I talked to said that the FBI FD258 card is just fine - just make sure to write "BCI&I only" on top of the card. He also mentioned there is no return postage/envelope required.

I am hoping this will work. Sending out the cards today.

Regards
OC

That's great! The power of a phone call... so much for "instructions." :)
