FBI fingerprints

Hello all - have been searching but thought asking would be better.

My wife needs to get the FBI check done, and needs her fingerprints done from Toronto as she is with me currently.

Any suggestions where to go? I read something about digital prints, which are supposedly better, but cant be sent cross border or something?

Any insight as to best way to get it done and where to go would be great.

Thanks!

The FBI will accept digital fingerprints that are printed onto the FD-285 card, but they do not accept digital prints that are transmitted across an international border.

There are a number of places where she can have her prints taken, but most will use the standard ink and roll method. In that case, I suggest that she have an extra set taken, just in case there's a problem with one (or more) of the prints.

The current processing time is ~ 10-12 weeks, AFAIK.

Hi Ponga

I see you answer questions real good around the forum and I'm hoping you can answer my question regarding FBI clearance

I was wondering if CIC will run the FBI clearance on their own since my husband was living here in Canada for over 6 months (deported due Rufguee Denial and didn't leave when he should have)
We did submit his local police clearance with our application
I was told by CIC Mississauga that it will not be necessary for use to do the FBI clearance they will do it because he lived in Canada before
he was also detained by immigration (when he was in Toronto) wouldnt tthey have done finger prints too ???
I don't know what to believe and just want to know a head of time or if we have to pay for this too

Thank Ponga

Your husband is an American?
The FBI is an American agency and Canada has no ability to generate any FBI documents on their own. You would only need an FBI police certificate if your husband is American or lived in the USA for longer than 6 months.

Oh right thanks, you absolutely right.... I guess it would be RCMP report not FBI - so do you think they will run the check from RCMP or do we have to pay to get this done.

Again I was told from Mississauga that CIC will handle the Canadian police check automatically????

Thanks again for clearing this up

There's nothing you need to do or pay for that would be related to the extra checks CIC or RCMP does for security or criminality - those things do happen automatically.
