Hi Friends,
I wanted to ask the senior members in this forum - what to do in my situation?
I want to submit my paper based PR application (PNP) and had been getting my documents ready. Me and my husband, we lived in US (he was on a work visa) for 2 years from 2010, and we left USA in July 2012.
Since I knew that FBI processing time was long, I had already applied and got FBI clearance documents for both of us. However, as the PNP nomination was received this year, the FBI documents are now more than
6 months old. In this case, should I reapply to get the FBI clearance certificate again?
As we have not visited USA after July 2012 - so following what is given in the CIC website ww.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp, I understand that we may not be required to reapply and get this, but I could be wrong.
This is the info on the CIC website:
Who needs a police certificate?
In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate.
You may need a police certificate from any country or territory that you have spent six months or more since the age of 18.
For example: if you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.
If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:
are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.

Can someone help me understand what to do?? Do you think the documents that I have would be enough or would the CIC reject the application citing the clearance certificate is not from last six months?
Thanks a lot for your help in this.
