FBI Channeler while in Canada

From what I have read a channeler will not send your results to anyone else other than an attorney, whom you must specify in your request. Anyone have experience otherwise? I'm not in a position for a day trip across the border, and don't have the time for what it seem like the standard FBI processing time is.

They sent my wife’s to her house. No attorney involved.

Thanks for the reply-of course, as with most of the process, some extensive digging around led to the discovery that I could have it sent c/o of myself to an address in the US I still have family at, and then can have them mail it to me here in Canada.

No; my understanding is that there are no legit FBI approved chanelers in Canada, so I'm getting my prints done here in Vancouver, mail them to a US channeler, have the FBI report sent to my parent's house in the US, who will then mail them to me. In the end, not the most cost efficient way, but saves a lot of bureaucratic hangup.

She had it done in USA. She had the results in less than a day

Well, my rough calculation is $40 CDN for the fingerprinting, $50 US for the channeler's fees, and in my case, $80 for Fed Ex express delivery, both to the channeler then from an address in the US back up to me in Canada.

That said, I spoke with the owner of Global Fingerprinting in Vancouver who took the time to detail his authority as 1 of 3 channelers authorized in Canada, and at my skepticism, explained the entire procedure to me; gave me an estimate of $175.
I'm still skeptical because I feel there'd be more online to back up his claim, yet I can't find anything to substantiate it. Anyone know if they're actually legit?

I don't know about legit or not, but I'm at a loss why anyone would go through all of these motions and all of this cost when all you need to do is print the fbi fingerprint card, take it to whomever is going to do your prints locally, and then just mail them to the fbi center. Total cost, whatever the prints cost you plus the $18US fee for the FBI to process your prints ...

Some people receive this request by surprise later on in the process (for example, US citizens who may have never lived in the US, or only lived there for a short time and were not originally required to include a police certificate) and they do not want to add an additional 14-16 weeks to the processing time of their application.

If a US citizen who has never lived in the US ends up with a FBI request they might want to question why since you are only required to submit a PCC from any country that you've lived in for 6 months or more since attaining the age of 18. Now, granted, there are some 'close' calls where if you've been in a country for say 5 months, they request you get a PCC. Again though, most folks send in the PCC's they need when they send in the application. I can see how they would need to 'rush' it if they don't submit with the application and wait for a request instead.

Exactly. I'm only doing this because I don't want to risk rejection because I have such little time before my PGWP expires, that I have to bite the financial bullet in the name of expediency. That convoluted process I described was my workaround because I found no solid info on whether there really is an FBI approved channeler in Canada, and those approved in the US aren't legally allowed to send the original FBI clearance to an address outside the US, and all info I've found states IRCC will require those original FBI documents. I wish there was a standardized procedure for this!

Current processing time for requests submitted electronically is forecasted to be 48 hours upon receipt of the fingerprint card. Allow additional time for mail delivery if this option was selected during the request process.​
