Where does CIC say that the FBI Certificate needs to be submitted within 3 months? Also, if that is true, is it 3 months from the 'search date' or the day it is received from the FBI (which can be 4 weeks after the search date).

From the CIC website:

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

So it is the date it was issued. It's actually valid for a year after it's issue date to CIC.

Thank you! We missed that line of information and we submitted a 5mo old FBI certificate. Ugh. Going to have to be proactive and get a new one asap before they ask for it.

I didn't know either and mine were 4 months old when I sent in my application... they never asked me for new ones... it did make me nervous when it took them 35 days to get my passport back to me I kept waiting for the e-mail saying they wanted new ones LOL Good Luck!
