Thank you everyone for your input. That will help a lot.

I have another scenario....

I have been offered a f/t job by a Canadian based well known organization who have a started a project in the Middle East and they need Canadian experienced TESL certified teachers. I applied and got the job after a long procedure. I mentioned it during the interview that I didn't have Canadian passport but they are ready to issue me visa on my current passport.

However, they sent me a generic letter in which they advised the candidates to submit their Canadian Passports. Forgot to mention that I got job offer letter from its head office which is located in Canada.

Can I base this offer for the said urgent passport request?
Try with that but be prepared if CIC asks you to provide an official letter/document that the job offer would be turned down if you fail to submit your Canadian passport .

Thanks for wishing luck!

Would you mind explaining the following point...
CIC may sneak this right before the test or shortly after the test.

In addition, I never left Canada during the last 3 years.
Have had a full time job during the said period.
Paid all my taxes.
Submitted my ROE, T4 etc. , job experience letter etc. along with my application

If I were you, would you really take a risk?
1. There was a noticeable trend of CIC across a couple of forums being made aware by an applicant that they were not around and sending them a test invite, oath invite or CJ hearing invite anyway at a time the applicant was absent from Canada and/or issuing an RQ if it seemed the applicant was applying on their way to the airport which is what CIC would/ could deem you to be doing. Legally you only need 1095 days in the 4 years prior to the application with the current law but if you get RQd under the long haul route via the CJ you will breach the RO and get reported.

Nowadays CIC operate a 1 notice and no show with good cause (narrowed down to death in the family or you being really sick as the only acceptable options) so if you are in the ME and get caught out? Easiest thing is for CIC to RQ you after you request expedited processing but if your file is at the Local Office then it will be just before your test or even at test or post test (worst case scenario).

You can have full time employment with no absence and still get RQd for program integrity/ quality assurance...its interesting that much case law shows many applicants suddenly remembering trips, unemployment etc at interview when CIC grill and cross reference their paperwork.

2. No I would not take the risk unless I was in a very slow processing office such that the timeline between non routine and routine was marginal (with protecting the RO always in check). This because waiting another several months to say 1 year in a fast Local CIC could potentially save me 3 years with the RQ regime. Is this a one off job...it and other English teaching jobs will still be there next year. However I've been on these forums for long enough to know you've decided to go ahead...there is no way to mitigate the risk once you let CIC know of your plans...expect the best but prepare for the worst!

Don't listen to those who pretend knowing and giving you wrong advice!! If you MUST be a Canadia Citizen in order to get this job, or if your work-visa has been declined based on your current nationality, then GO AHEAD and ask for urgent request. There is no risk of getting RQ because you want to leave for a job overseas. RQ is influenced by the 4yrs period before applying, NOT after.

Here is my timeline:

Citizenship Application Received: Sep 9, 2013
In Process: Jan 10, 2014
*Urgent Request based on Employment Reasons Processed on March 6th, 2014
All Background Checks Requested on March 6th, 2014:
- CSIS Clearance: Passed Mar 27th, 2014
- Security Clearance: passed Mar 27th, 2014
- FOSS Clearance: Passed Mar 6, 2014
- Immigrantion Clearance: Passed Mar 6, 2014
- RCMP Clearance: Passed Mar 21, 2014
- Criminal Clearance: Passed Mar 21, 2014

File transferred to local office: Mar 20, 2014.
Test on May 5th, 2014

Notes:
*In-Process should have been started on Nov 12, 2013; delayed until Jan 7, 2014 due to payment error by CIC.
*Urgent Request was received on Feb 27, 2014, but they lost/misplaced/ignored the envelope. Another request was faxed on Mar 7, 2014 after CIC officer called me on Mar 6, 2014
*PR Card issued within 3 months before application date. My supporting ID was issued 5 weeks after application date. Considering the Urgent Processing of my application, I hope the ID issue won't trigger/require RQ when application is reviewed by Local Office.

For which type of job you have requested Urgent Processing? What CIC officer asked you and what you said and he accepted your request for Urgent Processing?

I am in the same situation. My application has been in process for a month now and I need to be a citizen to apply for jobs that I am currently at school for. I have been made aware that a hiring process will start in Sept this year. I have just learned about the fast track process and am very excited to think that I may be able to request for one instead of having to wait another 18months before I can apply for these jobs that might not be hiring at that time. :D

Having completed 3 years, I applied for citizenship in early March 2014. I am TESL qualified English Instructor and currently teaching in a local collegiate. However, the net salary I get after taxes is not sufficient for my family's needs. Therefore, I started applying for ESL jobs in Middle East, KSA, China, Korea and so on. Looking at my resume, qualifications and professional experience, I have been interviewed (on Skype) several times, nonetheless, they cannot proceed due to visa restrictions. (Visa is issued to people having US, Canadian, GB, Australian etc. passports).

Many universities and colleges are willing to offer me jobs but without CANADIAN PASSPORT, it's next to impossible, according to them.

According to CIC web site:
There must be some emergency that requires you to become a citizen quickly.

Examples of when we may process an application for citizenship urgently:
•You can't apply for a job or could lose your job because you are not a Canadian citizen.
•You cannot go to a Canadian school, college or university because you are not a Canadian citizen.
•You need to travel because of death or serious illness in the family and cannot get a passport in your current nationality.
•You received a decision on a previous application for citizenship that you successfully appealed to the Federal Court.

My question is:

Am I eligible to send cic a request to expedite on my case on URGENT BASIS?

What could/should be my standpoint to deal with my case urgently?

Plz. advise or share your experience!!!!
Looking forward!!

Why don't you do TESL Canada or TESL Ontario instead of TESOL. I'm not sure about TESOL but having completed these two courses I mentioned, you get the licensure you're looking for.

Does anyone know what the workflow of urgent grant of citizenship process is?

How long does it take for them to confirm you are considered agent?
How are you notified your case is urgent?
How long urgent cases take in average?
