Fast Refugee Eligibility Interview

Which country are you from? I applied online on Aug 2021 but haven't heard from them for eligibility interview or taking passport.

I applied after 2 yrs inside Canada and am from Nigeria

Please can anyone advice. Made a claim April 2020. Received acknowledgement few days later and told would be invited for eligibility interview/ medical. April 2021 I was invited for biometrics and passport seized, was told will be invited for eligibility interview 2-4 weeks. It's been 8month since biometric and 20 months since claim and still waiting for eligibility interview. I am frustrated. Any advice?

My lawyer says to wait I will be contacted. I've contacted ircc several times and they keep saying I will be contacted when the time comes

processing times are crazy nowadays, I would just call it bad luck.

Prolly backlogged, and minimal officers working. Hope you hear from them soon.

My Work Permit arrived yesterday December 15th, did my Eligibility Interview on November 11th. Submitted my claim on October 27th or thereabout. More good news for us all henceforth

I attended the IRCC for interview, but it was not an interview. They only took biometrics and passport handover to them. They said eligibility interview would be in 3-4 weeks.

This same happened to me today. did they call you in 3-4 weeks? I was so worried when they said I will be asked to come again?

They also took 4 passport pics too. They said we will call you again for eligibility interview. No document signing this time

Did you claim asylum at POE?

Seems like they are essentially setting up the same process as someone claiming asylum at POE but for those claiming asylum while already in Canada. Initial application followed by eligibility interview.

Applied Inisde Canada October 11th,2021
Did Medicals Oct 13th
Notice to Appear for Interview Oct 30th
Eligibility Interview Nov 10th
Got The Refugee Claimant Document and Confirmation of Referral

Hearing date to be communicated at a later date.

I have a hearing date now for July 11th. Gathering my supporting documents now and hope everyone one get their hearing soon. The wait wasnt easy atall but am very optimistic.
