Do we need Police clearance certificate , if we are applying under general category ( INDIA)?

it is discretion of the embassy to ask for POLICE certificates. usually they ask for police certificates of the countries where you have stayed fore more than 6 months.
they can also ask for police certificate of India, depends on how they deal with your application.

usually the deadline given for submitting PCC's is strict. so, it is better to have all PCC's in hand than to be sorry. (advice given by other forum members)
