Good evening! (Or morning depending on where you come from.)

My fiance and I have been together for nearly 5 years now consistently, but only long distance. :/

I just turned 19, literally 3 days ago, and he is going to be 22 this December (Figured I should add that?) and obviously enough after five years of a wonderful relationship we desperately want to live together in Canada.

My fiance, Jeremie, is a natural born citizen in Montreal, Quebec and I live in the USA. We are currently trying to figure out the best and most efficient way for us to be able to live together. Throughout our relationship we often would save up to spend a week or two together one or twice a year, and last year we managed to spend 2 months together in Montreal. I absolutely fell in love with the city itself, let alone the extended period of being able to live with him for the few months.

We've attempted to check online for the Sponsorship or even Visas and all we manage to find is very vague information or "DO NOT DO THIS" everywhere. :( It's gotten really confusing at this point.

I was wondering and would be grateful for absolutely any input on where to start.

I'm aware that Montreal is a French speaking city and that I should really learn French (Boy, is it hard to learn from a book.) but I have no idea if/how to get accepted at this point as a Visa or if he could be a sponsor.

He lives on his own and makes a decent amount of money. The problem is, being as young as I am, I haven't had much experience in full time work let alone much that would get my points up. :(

Any help would be appreciated! Even if you send me to a different part of this form.

Thanks. :)

You need to be either married or common law in order for him to be able to sponsor you for PR. Common law means that you have lived together continuously for a minimum of one full year. As of now you are only dating and don't meet the criteria for sponsorship. If you get married, he would be able to sponsor you immediately.

Although I have zero experience in visas outside spousal and visitor, I believe you may also be able to apply for a student visa? If you come to school here and live with for fiance for atleast a year then he can sponsor you as common law. Getting married is another option, as mentioned below, you can apply right away to live here permanently. Whichever one you chose, take a look at the application package and start making notes on what information you already have/will need to get and keep that in mind so when it comes time to apply you aren't scrambling to obtain documents or proof that can delay it. From what I have seen, FBI clearance is one of the longer processes for US applicants. Good news is, under spousal sponsor once you apply they seem to be processing Americans fairly quick, within a few months.

There is also an additional process to immigrate to Quebec.

You should check out their web site as well. Just do a Google search for Immigration Quebec.
