My husband is in Accra and our appeal was won Apr 4th 2011. Now the file is in Accra and processing started June 6th 2011. Does anyone know how long it takes before he will be contacted about his visa? His medical will expire in July and I am hoping to hear before then or should he go and get
another medical just in case?
Thanks

Congratulations for winning the appeal.
Why did you have to go through appeal? When did you apply. On what grounds did they refuse the visa initially. These are factors that can also determine how fact they might call him for the visa. They might give extension on the medical expiry due to the appeal process. I believe they should call him for Visa by July all things been equal. Please provide answers to the above.

Appeal was refused saying marriage was not genuine. They did not give him PR yet. He had to redo medical and police report and fill out new forms. Now they want medical for his 2 kids. One is done, but the other is not possible as she lives with her mother 640 km away and is refusing to help him in any way. Now I don't know what will happen. Can he be rerused PR for not having medical for one dependent?

You need to provide evidence that you have did all you can to get medical and if all else fail then maybe something signed by JP or notary public saying all that you have tried does he have visitation maybe getting police involved as in trying to go for a visit mom refused and have police documentation

It makes it much more difficult to get the PR if you do not have the dependent examined.
He should try everything he can to get it done. He could try explaining to the mother that getting the medical does not mean the child will be taken to Canada. He should explain that if the mother dies and the medical had not been done, he will not be able to take the child to Canada to care for her; surely the mom does not want the child to be abandoned. He could go there himself and take the child for the medical, if the mother will allow, not just expect her to do it. As a last resort, he could offer the mom some money to allow the child to have the medical. Frankly, I can't see the police helping in Nigeria.
