Hi guys..

i need your help here please.

i am a canadian citiizen and single dad of a 17 yr old son who is now in USA for a yr to play hockey and may move to Sweden later on.

in April 2017 i met a girl on line from Fijj and we talked for a week and found out she used to live 5 mins from our place..

She is a son age 18 and daughter age 15

after she spoke with her parents it was known that her parents knew my parents for 25 yrs....my parents do not know them that well.

this girl and i talked over whats app for 3 months daily and her parents said they were ok with our marriage...

i flew in aug to fiji and got married..these are the people who attended the wedding.

i had not seen her before and the first day we met we got engaged the next day and wedding after that

Bride...
..her aunt flew from australia
..her first cousin came from new zeakand
..her aunt flew from another island of fiji
...her parents and 2 brothers and a sister were at the wedding plus other family and friends

Groom..
..my mom and dad flew from new zealand
..my youngest brother and his wife and daughter flew from new zealand as well
..plus i had other family and friends.

in total there were 60 people at the wedding and 20 ag engagement and 20 reception

for back up i have...
..money wire transfer to show support
..receipts for hotel stay
..receipts for meals and travel
..honey moon receipts
..she will be the beneficiary for savings acct
..we have a rental property in fiji under both names
..we will get letters from family and friends to say relationship is genuine and on going

i wanted to know if this would cause red flags for my application

No previous visit before marrying is a big red flag and the extremely fast marriage after the first in person meeting is a big red flag as well. If this is normal in your culture - that will be helpful and you'll want to explain it.

Yes, 4 months of knowing someone then marrying them on a first meeting is a huge red flag that will cause your PR app to sponsor her and her kids to be scrutinized more closely. Basically IRCC will want to make sure she is not just marrying you so she can get PR status. This is more common with couples with long distance relationships and getting married quickly, since the applicant can hide their intentions better (not saying at all this is relevant to you, but just be aware this is what visa officers look for using typical red flags).

However really the only opinion that matters is that of the visa officer. You do have some positives as well, such as being similar age (I assume) with similar aged kids, having lots of family make the effort to go to the wedding, having some kind of family history, etc etc. I would say a very high chance a relationship interview will be requested.

If you wanted to be more secure when sending the PR app, can you live together a bit as a married couple and spending time with her kids before sponsoring them for PR?

hi.
she lives in fiji....i was there for 22 days and we did spend 19 days together..
I am talking accumulating many months of actually being together in person.

But ultimately it's up to you when you wanted to apply to sponsor her for PR.

That's great, the but the #1 red flag in your case is the physical time you've spent together before getting married. The longer you wait after marriage to apply (and more importantly the more time you are together in person), the stronger it will make your application.

thanks again....so if i do decide to go and stay in Fiji for 6 months and then sponsor her then the case will be strong on our part..

i was born in Fiji so hopefully getting a work visa may not be a problem.

But here is the dilemma...do i sponsor her from Fiji or come back to Canada and then sponsor...if i Sponsor her from Fiji do i have to come back to canada or can i stay in Fiji till she gets her PR..

Also, if i do decide to sponsor her from Canada can i go back to Fiji and stay there while the immigration process is happening

You are a Canadian citizen so can live anywhere in the world while sponsoring her.

If she will stay in Fiji while the app is processing then there is only 1 option - you must submit an OUTSIDE CANADA application. You can live in Canada or Fiji, but the only stipulation is if living in Fiji you must submit additional proof in your app that you intend to return back to Canada and reside here after she gets PR status.

You will mail the initial complete application package to CPC-Mississauga, then they will forward to the outland visa office ( I believe Fiji citizens are processed from the Sydney Australia visa office).

As to spending more time together, that is just my opinion. Really the only opinion that matters is that of the visa officer processing your file. There is no specific amount of time you must spend in person with a spouse, as each case is unique and at discretion of the visa officer.
