Hello,

I be marrying my bf of over a year in another country but my family doesn't know and don't want them to find out until he is here. I don't want to bore u as to my reasons but I'm just not ready to face them or hear anything negative. I love him and this is solely my choice.

Do you think I will encounter issues through the application process if my family is not aware?

Not strictly speaking necessary to have parents being aware. To prove your relationship it would greatly help if you live together, share finances together, travel together though, have friends that are aware of the marriage/relationship. For more examples google the list for relationship proof for common-law couples - things like life insurance, common accounts, travel, pets, etc - things that make you partners in life vs just someone that just signed a piece of paper. If there's undeniable proof of the couple's commitment, who cares about whether family supports or even knows.

Umm, when we sent our application at the time (i think it was 2 years ago), my Muslim religious family didn't exactly accept me, a brown Muslim, marrying that beautiful green eyed white christian girl. We got married anyways without caring cuz NO ONE tell me what to do in my life.
So i wrote a 20 pages letter for immigration and attached it with the application, among the lines was:

"I don't speak with my dad for years now since he cheated on my mom and divorced her. I have no contact with my family cuz they didn't accept this girl based on religion. My family is racist and brain-washed but they will come around, having an open mind is a process based on education; once they learn that we are all simply humans, they will realize they were wrong.
Our application could be denied based on 1000 red flags, but NO ONE has the right to deny anyone based on religions."

The application was processed and finalized within 5 months. And here we are, 2 years later, getting educated and building a better future, difficulties arise every day but they melt down in the presence of love. My family realized a long time ago that love has no eyes, they met and accepted my wife, they missed the wedding but life doesn't stop on one single night. And here I am, didn't lose my family after all, building an amazing future, living with the green eyed beauty and most importantly, living happily - which is what money can never buy.

Don't you Ever let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do!

Happy to hear that you got approved without a hitch. Family can be difficult. I have a brother who I haven't talked to for 8 years. His wife doesn't like us and she told my brother that my sister and I were saying bad things about her behind her back, when we did no such thing. She knew that he would listen to her and proceeded to tell him things like this to control him.

My sister also does not approve of my relationship with my partner. I knew this and I asked her husband to write a letter of support for us, however he declined because of how she felt about us. They both have met my partner, however, she thinks he is using me to come to Canada and to get money from me (this is my guess, I didn't confront her with it, as she already gave me a speech about don't do it; she made the same mistake with her second husband, etc.) I could go on and on to counter this, but I only brought this up because I agree with what you said about families. Don't let their biases get in the way of what you think is best for you. Sometimes they make up their minds and nothing you say will change it. If you truly believe in your heart that it is the right thing to do, you have to go for it. I have been with my partner for 5 years (known him for 6 years), so I am not jumping into this blinded by infatuation. We have been through a lot of rough patches and it makes the relationship stronger. Yes often after they see you together over time, sometimes they change their minds. Thank goodness some immigration officials realize this too and don't penalize you if you don't have this proof to verify your relationship. (I also wrote a letter explaining why I didn't have a letter from my family, although I do have a photo taken with them).
