Family member 1 received approval , not he main applicant??

Hey Guys,

My wife and I applied for visitor visa together. As I was the main applicant and she was under my application. she received her letter from CIC saying that she needs to submit her passport. But I have not received yet.

Is it even possible that the main application doesn't receive his approval first?

Totally.

It is also possible that one applicant is refused, or that one applicant gets a TRV for more length... and so on. They are unrelated in that sense.

Thanks for your answer. But I was the main applicant and she was the dependent family member, as I uploaded all the documents under my profile (invitation letter, financial proof,etc.
The other point is that, when I check the final status of my application it is written that:
(We have reached a final decision on your application.
If your application is approved, we will send you instructions on what to do next.
These instructions will be sent to your account.
If your application is refused, we will send you the reason(s) for the refusal.)

The same thing is written for my wife but she is provided with her pass request no me.

Your application is taking bit more than your wife because of back ground checks , i feel your application will be approved but will take some time]

Thanks. I had a feeling that there is a system error from them that I haven't received my pass request.
Do you have any idea how long more it would take?

Its not system error , they must be acknowledging some info about you thats why taking some time

I've got another question. Do you recommend me to wait until I receive passport request as well and send both our passports by post to the embassy? or send my wife's pass right now and send my passport whenever I receive my request letter?

Do submit your wife's passport ASAP i.e. within 30 days of passport request. If you wait/do not submit it within the 30 days, her application will be closed/Refused.

Maybe IRCC is doing background checks (as Anwers has suggested).... or maybe processing is taking longer for some other reason. You may/may not get a decision within the 30 days of passport request for your wife.

Thanks for your reply. But it is possible to send it directly by mail to Embassy in Vienna when someone apply from The Netherlands. isn't it? It's said on cic website.
