Family Landing separately - Urgent

Dear fellows,

Here is my scenario
  • I am the principal applicant landing in Toronto in Nov under FSW program
  • My wife and kid has to stay back for another month and intend to join me mid December
  • I just spoke to a friend in Canada who went there a few years ago and he advised me not to land separately as this will cause unnecessary complications and may raise red flags, because you had applied for immigration as a family. Can someone please advise if this will have any negative consequence? I doubt so but would still want to confirm.
  • My friend also advised to not transfer the CAD 20K to Canada before hand and I should carry it with me in cash (converted to CAD). I don't have any (security) concerns with that either, my only concern is that since there is an international/Pakistani US $ 10K limit of carrying cash, if I carry more than that by myself, I might run into problems with the Pakistani airport authorities on my exit. Can someone please advise if that is true or would it be okay to carry CAD 20K with me?
Please help!

Best Regards,

Qamar

Just ignore your friend!!
The only problem is if the dependents land BEFORE primary, they will be sent back. They can land with you or after you. You are not doing anything unusual!!
Also what the heck about transferring the money? Give power of attorney of your account to your wife, land in canada, open a bank account and have her transfer it to you. I would never hold that much cash anyways! God forbid you get a pickpocket or lose your wallet.

Thanks for the reply - Please correct me if im wrong but im under the impression that I CAN get asked upon landing on POF, I believe either one shows money in a Canadian bank account or shows cash.

I can easily have someone transfer the money to me once I land there.

Yes, you can get your bank statements or have access to your online application etc... There are no clear "rules" when it comes to this.
for example:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/landing-proof-of-funds.429329/ this guy showed the same bank statement he submitted during application
