Hey there I applied for my permanent residence family class as a spouse of Canadian citizen just 4-5 days before my open graduate work permit expired. I am just wondering that should I wait for my first Stage approval to apple for work permit or visitor visa or should I do it right away because I have no status here anymore. It’s been 24 days since my status expired.

If you applied inland ? Didn't you submitted a open work permit along with the application ?

when you submitted the inland spousal sponsorship, why didn't you include application for OWP.......inland sponsorship application does not give you any status, but when submiteed with OWP, the OWP if received when you still have status would have given you implied status.....you may send application for OWP or visitor visa immediately if you want any status until your sponsorship is approved.

Open work permits for spouses or common-law partners in Canada
If you’re applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in-Canada class, you may qualify for an open work permit while your application for permanent residence is being processed. You can submit your application for an open work permit together with your application for permanent residence, or after you apply.

You were supposed to apply for the OWP along with your PR application, as the OWP application gives you implied status and you would have gotten the OWP within four months of applying. You can apply to restore your status within 90 days of it expiring. Otherwise, you have to wait for the AIP, yes. This happens nearly at the very end of the whole process so it's usually not even worth it to apply for the OWP at that point.

You need to have valid status to apply for the OWP. You can't apply if you're out of status.
