First of this thread might already exist, but I am new to this so I do apologize if this is repeated.
So, I was was sponsored by my spouse to Canada in May 2018 and reside in Canada since. Now I am interested in sponsoring my parents. However, I understand there is income requirement that needs to be met, which me being in Canada for 5 months does not meet. I do not have a work yet. My spouse has a current annual income of $65,000. My question is if I sponsor just my father first maybe after a year or so once I have some income (has children under 19) and then have him sponsor his spouse and dependent children under 19. Would this be cheaper in terms of proofing income and financial stability? I know that it is around $101,000 for a family sponsorship of 9 people. Any thoughts or comments? What would be the ideal thing to do if I want my parents here in Canada? They are total of 7. My spouse and I make it total family size of 9.
Thank you. Looking forward for the reply.

There is no option of not including certain members when you calculate the LICO for parents and grandparents sponsorship.
You have to include everyone. If the total of parents plus dependents (under 22) are 7, then you need to meet LICO of 9 people.

Be aware that on top of meeting the LICO, you need to make sure that you CAN support them when they get to Canada. I think you need to commit to support them for 20 years from their landing date. So if ANY of them get social assistance, you need to pay the government back.

It's better for you to wait, settle and get a job. Make sure that you can support them when they get here before you try to apply.

Hello,

So I am planning on sponsoring my parents to Canada but am not able to meet the LICO yet. My parents have 3 dependents so it would be a family of 7 when LICO is considered. I am thinking of sponsoring my dad alone first (thereby meeting the LICO for 3 person) and then have him sponsor his wife and dependents afterwards. Is this going to save us the LICO all together or not? Is there a LICO in spousal sponsorship? Are there any other circumstances that my dad needs to meet? If anybody has any experience with this, their contributions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You cannot pick and choose who you want to include to calculate your family size.
You can only apply for your dad to come and put the rest as non-accompanying dependents.
BUT they STILL need to be included in the LICO family size calculation and still need to go through security and medical exams. (so there isn't really any point of putting them as non-accompanying.)

You need to wait till you meet LICO to sponsor them or when your parents dependents are over 22 years old or get married/becomes common-law with someone else so that they won't be considered as dependents any more. (note that they cannot be sponsored once they are NOT dependents any more)

You also have to meet LICO for 3 years. You just arrived in May you can't expect to sponsor your parents right away. Looks like you have at least 3 more years. Would focus on finding employment.

They posted something online. Believe you need to upload a copy of your identification but I'm not sure about a co-signer.
