Hello,
I am a canadian citizen, and I recently married a Belgian Citizen. We are currently both students in belgium, until september 2016. We are working on the immigration papers, and I had a few questions that I can't find answers to, or that everyone I've spoken to have refered me to someone else, who refered me to someone else....
1. What kind of medical certificate do the members of his family have to give in ? proof of a full physical ? Or a form of good health by the family doctor ? Do they even need a medical exam if his family are not part of the visa, nor are they his dependents?
2. What kind of proof of returning to canada can we provide, considering we dont have a house, or are we currently renting a house in canada ? We have no job propositions for the moment in Canada, but we both have student jobs in Belgium. We are returning to Canada in January to begin looking for work( is his coming to canada for 2 weeks advised or not after we have given in his application? ). Would a conditional job offer be enough of proof ? We are giving the papers in in November, but are going to canada in January, would it be possible to add to the folder later on ? or would it be better to wait until we have solid proof ? All we can offer right now are personal testimonials and those of friends. I read here in the forem that a letter from a family member stating they would help us would count?
3. Does he have to have his medical exam done by someone with a connection to immigration canada ?( we saw it on the site) or would his family doctor be enough ?
4. Does the form background decleration need to be done by his entire family, even if they are not in the application to come to canada ?
5. Do I need to ask for a canadian marriage certificate, or is our belgian certificate recognized in canada?
6. Since I have not been back to Canada for more than 1.5 years, I do not have employment in canada. How do I explain why I am not providing an option C printout? Or do I provide it?
7. We are adding testimonials from friends and family, pictures, visa stamps, train tickets, etc.. of trips taken together. Does anyone have any other ideas on what we can add to male a good case for immigration?
Thanks for any replies, we are both overwhelmed by the amount of work that has to be done.

1. there is a list of panel physician on CIC , your spouse need to medical by one of those doctor before he summit his app.
Only he need to do medical. if he has a dependant child, the child has to do medical too.

2. support letter from family and friends would be good and you can write a letter with plan in Canada too.
it is more likely VO would request more supporting docs regarding to the matter when they process his file.
so if you move to Canada when VO request more docs, you can send a letter from your work(if you have) and pay stub.
if you do not have a job at that time, but in Canada, you can send some proof that you have been looking for a job etc.

3. same answer as 1.

4. yes - his parents and siblings, not relatives.

5. if you can get English copy, it would be fine. the certificate has to be translated and notarized in English.

6. you can write a letter about your situation- being a student in foreign country.
*hope someone give you more info about this.

7. that should be enough.
what I sent was photos from our trip, family events, special occasion(family and friends in it), photocopy of plane tickets .
I did not add a letter from family or friends.

correct me if there is wrong info.

good luck

His parents and siblings do not have to fill out any forms; nor do they have to have medicals done. They must be listed on the Additional Family Information form.

Considering OP is in Belgium, wouldn't French suffice?

Technically, Canada has 2 official languages... so French would be alright. It is either French OR English. When I sent my sponsor application, my forms were in French. So... yes Cedeel is right. You can send it in French as well, as long as it is French or English. :)
