Hi all,
I need to sponsor PR for my wife who is outside Canada. I see that now she can come with open work permit before her PR application is processed. So wanted to clarify few things.
Is it recommended that I apply TRV first and then submit PR application once she is here and apply for open work permit?
Or can I first submit PR under family class and apply for open work permit?
I see that the requirement for open work permit is that she is present in Canada, so how would it work under the family class sponsorship?

Thanks in advance!

You can do either, really: apply for TRV first and then apply 'inland' or apply PR first ('outland') and then TRV afterwards. Either way the OWP can/will only be processed for applicants already in Canada.

What we can't tell you is whether TRV will be approved, nor when.

I have a general question about OWP. Are applicants allowed to work once submitted with the AOR or do they need to wait for the decision to be made first?

If PA has a valid work permit before submitting OWP, then PA can continue to work. (ppl with closed work permit or PGWP or other open work permit )
In most cases, PA only has visitor status and cannot work until OWP is grant.

To be clear. people who apply for PGWP can work once they submit their application. But in the case of PA who have a TRV, they can't
do the same, they need to wait for the decision. Did I understand you correctly?

In this case the applicant must wait until the OWP is approved before they can start working. They cannot work based on AOR.
