I have just sent off my application for Family Class sponsorship. Had the medical, FBI clearance..so now I am just waiting to hear my next step. But my wife just mentioned to me there is a process about importing our cars. We have two. I have seen the RIV website, but it seems a lot about if I was canadian and bought a car in the US. Has anyone delt with being an US citizen and bringing your car over? Is it worth it or just better to sell. Our two cars are 2001. Any help? Thanks and FYI, I love this site.

No, you are not reading the site correctly. It doesn't matter if you are a Canadian or other, it is about importing cars to Canada. Don't forget you also have export the cars from the US. see: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/export_docs/motor_vehicle.xml

So can you put it on the good to follow list and 'land' with it later, or do you have to land with it as soon as you cross over as a PR?

You can put the car on the goods to follow list, but it has to be admissible, exported from the US which requires submitting copies of the title in advance, and imported at customs (with your goods list and other documents). Then you have to do any modifications like required day time running lights, get it inspected for safety and emissions, get licensed , get insurance (what an eye opener that is!!), etc. Can you tell I am deep in the process??? Maybe you are better off selling...
