You realize that the posted processing time for 80% of spousal applications in Isbad is 32 months?

Although your file is in London, you cannot look at processing times for London for your timeline as you are a citizen of Pakistan, and there are still parts of the processing that will have to be done by Islamabad. Hopefully it will not take as long as the posted 32 months for Islamabad.

You may want to order the notes on your file, as you may find out if security/background search has started in Pakistan (I feel this is what really makes the process long for Pakistani nationals) :( Wishing you a speedy process. If you order your notes and get them, please update us here in the forum so we get an idea how they are handling files in London for Pakistani nationals. Many thanks.

You realize that the OP has applied through London, not Islamabad?

London processing times do apply, not Islamabad. The posted processing time is how long it took to process 80% of apps. Non visa-exempt apps through London tend to be the 20% that take longer than the posted processing time.

The OP is not a British citizen or PR, he is there on study permit ( as far as I can see from the post ). So wouldn't that require the same local knowledge like other Pakistani nationals go through and isn't it a common practice to route ISL LVO files to UK or Ottawa but regardless of their short processing time, it's still around 32 months for these cases who are only transferred for sharing the burden. If you read the Islamabad threads, most of them have realized that files being routed to such LVO's don't have any advantage at all

Based on my understanding of the information/process the files that are being transferred are only being dealt with partially in London etc. The reason is that unfortunately what takes long in Pakistan is not the fact that there are too many application and not enough staff, for example in 2012 Islamabad received only 1311 spousal sponsorship applications while New Delhi in that same period received 5,388 spousal apps, Hong Kong 2535, Manila 3894...What is time consuming in Pakistan is verifying identities of the applicants, checking security and doing the background searches. So even if London does some of the processing, they cannot access any data from Pakistan, and in the end the identity/background search still has to be done (which based on timelines and capis notes approx 1.5 to 2 years in Pakistan)

So in the end it is not CIC Canada that is to be blamed for the long processing, it is an internal problem in Pakistan (lack of records, lack of registrations of vital statistics within the Pakistani government).

The people on that thread submitted their files to Islamabad; the files were then transferred to London or Ottawa, probably due to Islamabad's backlog, but Islamabad's processing time still applies to them.

OP's file was submitted to London, not transferred there. It never went through Islamabad, so Islamabad's processing times do not apply.
