Yes, moved to DR after 1 1/2 years together. I did a 1 month placement at the school (in March 2009... I moved here in August 2009) I now just finished my 3rd year at teaching grade 5, as I was finishing up my teachers college degree at Queens University.... after my placement there they offered me a job and I took it, so for the past 3 years been living in DR.... we just got married last week on July 7th after almost 4 1/2 years together... I'm moving back to Canada on August 17th (wahhhhh!) and will submit the sponsorship papers and hopefully be able to get a teaching job, even if it's just supply work for now.... hoping we have a fast process. Wish I could stay in DR with him throughout the process but I figure I should get settled first and hopefully make a little money, rather than having 2 of us move in with my parents and be starting from scratch! That's so cool that you moved to the Dominican instead of the other way around. Maybe someday we'll spend a portion of the year in Cuba...depending on how politics towards foreigners living and working there change their over time.

It is crazy! He loves his country but this process is making him recognize his lack of rights and freedoms which is pretty depressing for him. He understood theoretically before...but now he actually understands he's not free.tink23 said:
