Failed to turn in visitor record when leaving, what to do?

I have visited Canada over a year ago. The immigration officer gave me a visitor record and told me to turn it in when I leave. I got kinda confused when leaving and failed to turn it in. It was over a year ago. My visitor record doesn't specifically say that I had to return it. It only says that I couldn't work or study and that I had to leave by a certain date.
Does anyone know what I should do to fix the problem? Is there going to be problem at all, since I left when I was supposed to? I threw away the boarding passes and I didn't get my passport stamped either.
Thanks in advance.ß

Thank you for your answer. Did it happen to you too? What happened next time you visited?

No.

It is quite common that people forget to turn the permit in on exit. The officer will probably ask you why you didn't turn it in and will ask you to not forget next time.

Are they going to know that I left the country(mind you I'm not from USA, so there is no enter/exit sharing)? If they do, what's the point in reporting in when I'm leaving?
I have tried to google up something about my situation for more than three hours and noticed only one person reporting that they filed to turn in the VR. I tried to called CBSA today, they told me to call CIC. Then CIC told me to call CBSA. Kind of a Catch 22 situation.

You are over thinking things , yes you should have turned in your visitor record but the whole process is based to a degree on an honesty basis.
For example do you think people who actually get 6 months as a visitor but with no stamp in their passport or visitor record report themselves they are leaving the country, no they do not. You may or may not be asked next time you come to Canada when you actually left assuming was within your visitor period but thats about all and if there is some note about visitor record not being handed in be politely reminded to do so next time but thats all. There will not be a note issued to Interpol to retrieve the visitor record thats for sure, there are probably more overstayers in the country than people will admit to that CBSA have to worry about.

So stop worrying about it would be my input.

Thanks a lot, you are probably right about me overreacting. I should probably take a step back and chill for a bit.
I was thinking of bringing my old bank statements with me, because they conveniently show that I used my credit card back in my country. I wonder if I should go through the trouble to get them stamped and translated though?
