Thank you very much all of you for helping me with your valuable advices.. I sent my application to Hungarian Embassy and i am done with interview at Hungarian Embassy. After interview I requested them to withdraw my Passport temporarily, while my application is being processed at their embassy, as I have some other travel plans. They returned me but they have put a stamp which says applied for Hungary Visa. Please recommend me whether I should send this page of my passport to Canadian or not?

Sure! Why not? Applying to another country and having that visa actually makes your application look stronger. As long as it does not say that its a student visa. If it says that, then you will be in trouble, as the SOP to Canada specifically asks you to answer why you NEED to do the said course in Canada and not in any other country. However, If I remember correctly, you have already applied for the Canada Visa, so you don't really need to resend the photo of the new page.

Please clarify if that is the case.

The stamp mentions that it is a D type visa which is temporary resident visa of Hungary and this stamp is just the acknowledgement that Hungarian Embassy recieved my passport not the visa stamp. The stamp doesn't say anything about study. Yes you are right I have already applied for Canadian study permit on 7th April and I'm impatiently waiting for replies :)

So now I think you should do the following:-

1. Make sure that the Hungarian embassy is processing your application without the passport.
2. Wait and see who gives you the Visa first.
3. If it goes beyond the 20th on the Canadian Visa, then you are better off with Hungary as the Passport transmittal services might take up to 10 working days as per the CIC website. So calculate backwards and choose your latest date.

You don't need to resend a copy of the page that has been stamped by Hungary, The cic has not asked for it, nor did you have this stamp at the time of the application, so there is no chance of misrepresentation or anything illegal in the eyes of the Canadian authorities.

Its their loss of you take the Visa in Hungary and go there. The Canadian universities will miss the opportunity to work with you.

Hope this helps.

Hello enywmara,

I am really grateful to you for this encouraging and motivating post. There are many people in this world who help others when they are not facing problems but very few who rekindle hope for others when they are also in trouble.Surely you are one of those few.I will pray for your visa acceptance.

Yeah I confirmed from Hungarian embassy and they are processing visa and you are right I don't need to send the copy of the stamped page as I did not have it at the time of application.

Thanks :)

Hi John I was in the same situation back in 2010. There is no issue with sending passpost with Hungarian stamp. I can suggest you to send emails to both CANADIAN and Hungarian university and you are expecting it by 1st week of september. They will give you some extra time to join. In my case yhey gave me 3 weeksto join the session. It made it really easy to make my decision.
On my my friend even deferred his admission and tried again for Canada visa ...

Hey John,

Read your entire situation and really commendable suggestions by all the fellow members of the community esp. enywmara.
I wanted to understand that won't it leave a negative impact on the Canadian high commission when they see that you have applied for multiple countries for same intake? It would have been a positive impact if you already have a Hungarian passport stamped and hence the CIC might feel that you have chosen Canada over Hungary.
Also, when you submit your passport to canadian embassy, how do you plan to hide the Hungarian stamp?
I think you should really check the reasons for delay with the embassy as you only need to show proof of funds for living provided that you already have a fully funded scholarship. You seem to be a bright student and you shall do well in any university provided studying isn't your primary intention of visiting Canada.
More than anything, a student as bright as you should not pay heed to country and rather be more keen at Study preferences.
To be upfront, It isn't advisable for a Harvard invite to Choose Queens ;D

Hey Monty39,

Thanks for commenting on this situation.Yeah that is what I was thinking that it might leave a negative impact but most of the people feel that it won't.However,I have no other choice and I have to send them my passport to see whether it leaves a positive or negative impact.I am not choosing Canadian university just because it's in Canada.Ranking wise University in Hungary and this one are almost same and programs are exactly same but you are right studies and University is more important than country.
Really is there any legal way to hide the stamp???please tell me.

I know the reason of delay.Actually I did not show any of my own funds, police certificate ,IELTS results,SOP and University transcript when I applied for visa.CIC might took some time in checking these things and also they requested me to submit proof of funds from parents .I took about 15 days for submitting these documents.

Thanks,
John :)

Please don't take this route it will make situation worse. Regarding country selection, everybody have their own opinion and views but if the other university is not in World Top 20 university then you should really consider the country you choose to go...you should always consider following factors.

- possibility to work and live after studies
- possibility of your family to live and visit you
- overall economic and social environment

Having said that everybody knows their goals and priorities better than anyone else.

Hey John,
It is impossible to hide the stamp legally.
Secondly, it is really surprising to hear that you did not adhere to the basic requirements of Visa submission. Without IELTS, SOP and Funds-you are literally trying a lottery ticket. BTW whats your nationality?
And yes, I do agree with SRM about the positives of Canada. Hence, I had already mentioned in my post that if studying isn't your primary intention and you looking at future stay then you are good to go to canada. And as you said, if the universities are ranked similar then you know which one is the best choice for you. However, I will stick to My opinion which is, "Education is Primary Priority." People who do not know their goals and motivations and their only priority is to abandon their countries by seeking educational ways in other countries end up being average.
Considering your excellent academics, I am sure you well know the importance of education and learning. Concentrate on studies and University sessions and the country will never want you to leave... :)
