My advice is to visit your local library and make use of their scanners and copiers (*they might even have a spare flash drive you can use while there). I would have been able to do the whole thing from a library if needed... and I'm in Saskatchewan. All you need to do is scan your documents to a flash drive and then using a library computer upload your documents as requested. If you're not sure how to do this, the library workers will probably help you.

If for some reason your library does not have a working scanner, you can go to Staples and have them scan your documents to a flash drive (they sell flash drives there).

CIC has never gone by the "postmarked" date that would be absolutely ridiculous. That person gave you bad advice.
CIC has most definitely gone by postmark when receiving Temporary Resident Applications, so apparently it isn't that ridiculous....

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2014/ob588.asp

A temporary resident application submitted on paper is considered to be received on the day it is postmarked (in Canada) or date-stamped by the designated CIC intake office (overseas).

Since CIC started rolling out the new "Program Delivery Instructions" format to replace the old operational manuals, the manual that stated CIC went by postmark is no longer there. If I recall, it was in a section for Implied Status and it gave several examples of situations where a person might be covered; in the situation where the app was postmarked prior to status expiry, the person had Implied Status.

Hey everyone! so... we are now waiting on medical and and criminal check in order to send off PR application which unfortunately is taking a bit longer. We have all the documents( joint bank account statements, employer letter, letters from myself and our family on both sides stating financial support etc.,professional wedding photos camera and cellphone photos- about 50 altogether..and our marriage certificate. We don;t have honeymoon photos as we are still due for one in the near future...hopefully.We have letters of family and friends stating our genuine relationship. We have wedding cards and pics of wedding gifts.we are also still waiting on my husbands second extension approval or denial. its been since MAY that we have sent it.I also looked at the cic processing times and it says they are still receiving extensions from March. Does this mean that the decision will take longer? and do you think it would be wise to send off PR without medical and criminal documents before we get extension decision or wait until afterwards? also if we do get the dreaded denial .what backup plan do we have? Can we reapply with extension and have some sort of confirmation that PR has been sent? as of now we only have the PR receipt and letter stating that we will be applying. sorry for all the questions... I'm a bit stressed as usual lol Thanks for all the advice.

I applied for a visitor ext at the very end of April and got my physical visitor record well over a week ago ... the acceptance notification came via email in mid June. Not sure if that helps at all.

If he applied may and they are only processing March, then of course he has a while to wait until he hears anything.

Do not send the app without the medical and PCCs.

If it is denied, he applies for Restoration with proof that the PR app has been sent.

CIC's website has links for each country and now to get a police check for that country. Find UK in the list and follow the steps. It's super easy. (Seriously, I just googled "cic police checks" and it came right up...)
