As far as campus recruitment is concerned, well if you are enrolled in a co-op program, you get a chance to work with an employer and if you are really a deserving candidate, you may get a chance to extend your tenure with the employer. About other candidates, well though colleges don't have campus recruitment but they do have tie ups with candidates where they can refer you. Getting an interview is even a big thing here.
Yes indeed, keeping good contact with your professors and other contacts is really important here.

That is the main difference, the staff and faculty. I am more scared of the fact that will teachers put in the effort for international students ?? Or we are just money banks for them? Will they teach better than we have had teachers here in india during our bachelors?
Obviously I cannot speak for ALL the teachers there, but the ones I had, they were EXTREMELY accommodating, if the ones we thought were strict. I mean there were certain situations where if I was the teacher, I would not have been that accommodating to the student, but the professor was. HOWEVER, you HAVE to approach them, you cant expect to sit in the back of the class and expect the teacher to spoon feed you.

Another thing, Canada, and esp the Colleges/Institutes are very multicultural, so there is really no way for the professors to tell if you are an international student or not.
BTW if you are going to Humber, contact me when you start classes, we can meet up and I can show you around the college.

Guys.. does anyone know if there is the concept of campus placements in Canada ? I know its not in humber .. but heard that gbc has it ? Is that so ?
No GBC does not conduct Campus Placements but GBC has good rapport with the employers so there are many companies that contact GBC for entry level jobs.

On this thread: I'd like to say that yes I totally agree with experts that life isn't easy here in Canada. But isn't that bad either, of course you have to work a way out for yourself for getting a job but its not impossible.

Everything is a by-product of your past. Canada is not going to transform you into a working executive all by itself. You have to work hard for that. Do your valuation from India itself. What is my value in India? Does any company want to recruit me here in India? Do I possess any kind of specific skills? If the answers to all these questions are negative then don't blame Canada if you don't get a job. If you have it in you nobody can stop you from getting a job. If you have some specific skill set, if you have experience and if your are ready for some hard work, then Canada welcomes you with open arms. Now, the problem is not with the skills, majority of us have problems presenting our skills. Communication Skills, People Skills, Negotiation & Facilitation. Interpersonal Skills etc. If from day one we start working on our presentation skills, nobody can stop you from getting a job.

To be straight and simple Canada is not that big country that will have job reserves for all international students. If you have the skill set demonstrate, crack interviews and get a job like a boss.

I could say the same for Humber, where colleges are concerned, they are all equal in the eyes of employers. Only difference being the faculty and staff.

Don't let anyone fool you.
Having relatives is the best thing you can have. After grades, getting connections is the most important thing in getting a job and having relatives in high end positions means a lottery. Trust me on this

Are you serious? lol, you need to NOT depend on family~unless you have HIGHLY places family members willing to accommodate you, otherwise they will just pull you down. Unless you want to work minimum wage at McDonalds or Petro Canada... I suggest the best way to network is by VOLUNTEERING. Than will do more for you than any family "contact"
Maybe you are one of the lucky ones but the OP needs objective advice. Your case is not typical to everyone.

there is absolutely nothing to be scared about, just be prepared to WORK HARD, most desi kids think that, Oh they got the VISA, the hard part is done.... but the reality is you have to keep striving and working hard to achieve success. and it WILL pay off!!!

you may be in the co-op program, but you actually have to be SELECTED for co-op, and thats based on your grades, I have no idea where you are studying, but for Humber, only the TOP 30-40 students are chosen. You need an overall % of >85% usually.

And yes, if you do land a co-op job, there is a much higher chance of you getting a full time job there, reason being that, why would the company spend so much time and effort training you and developing your skills if ultimately they don't hire you, it just not logical from a business perspective.
