I have spent yesterday afternoon, and this morning trying to get through on the 1(888)242-2100 line, and it keeps telling me that they are busy, and then it hangs up. Why can't they put you on hold?

I applied for a visitor visa extension ($75) and all it asks for is proof of income (I supplied that) and a copy of your passport (I supplied that). I got a letteron the 23rd of August saying that my extension was declined because I didn't provide proof of entry into Canada!!!!!

How can you provide that when they don't ask for it, or have an area where you can attach it online? Now they want me to apply for a restoration and pay anther $200!!!

I'm starting to grow seriously frustrated with this whole process. I have been applying for a visitor extension because I'm waiting on my PR, which is taking longer than usual - I had to go get fingerprints, now awaiting the results. It's an expensive process, and CIC are terrible. I'm really sick of them.

So does anyone know of a direct line I can call?

I finally got through, 4 minute wait time. 10% success rate with dialling in >:(

You have to pay the $200. Supposedly the website states that you need to photocopy the page with the landing permit - maybe they should make their website a little clearer. At least the lady was lovely to talk to.

I've realized it really depends on the day and time you call. I've been disconnected many time, waiting listening to music many times and sometimes I just got through right away.

Unfortunately that's the only number 1 888 242 2100. Good you were able to figure out your problem razza :)

How do you have the status list under your name? That's really neat!

You DO NOT need to renew ur visitor/student visa if u have already applied for PR IN Canada.

Razza,

You go to Profile (top right corner) > Modify Profile (left side) > Forum Profile Information.

Done ;D

ingodwetrustforever - I applied for my PR and still have to have a visa to re-enter the country. Is this different once you get your AOR or only after you get your PR?

Hello

This is directly from the immigration site

Hide: If I have overstayed my visa or visitor record or if I have been working or studying without a permit, can I apply for permanent residence under the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada Class? If yes, how do I apply?

Yes. You can apply for permanent residence under a public policy that creates exceptions to the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada Class, if you are still in Canada. You can download the application kit, or order it by contacting the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre, toll free at 1 888 242-2100 (from within Canada only). CIC will mail the application kit to you—delivery takes about two weeks.

The application kit contains everything you will need, including the sponsorship application that your spouse or partner must fill out.

I applied outside of Canada, through Sydney, Australia

Hi ingodwetrustforever,

I applied under CEC and have not overstayed any status & everything is valid so I don't think those links apply. Thanks anyway.

Also I haven't applied under common law or anything like that. Were you replying to me? ???
