Extremely confused about the online study permit application process

Hello fellow Canadian Study Permit Seekers/Seniors,

I am having a hard time understanding the process after I apply for a study permit online. Please HELP

So, its fairly easy to fill out the online application and submit the scanned copies of your financial docs, admission letter etc. The questions I have are:

1. Where does the online application go to? CIC or local VO?
2. So, after the online application is processed, I receive an approval letter that I take with me to Canada and receive the Study Permit there. But how do I get to Canada? What is th process of getting a TRV (visitor visa) to Canada? Is that separate from the application for study permit?
3. It is generally mentioned I need to submit IELTS scores and write a nice intro letter explaining my ties with home country to receive a visa but there is no such requirement for supporting documents when i apply for the study permit online, so how do I submit these documents?

Very confused :-\ ??? I would highly appreciate any info in this matter. Thank You

Which country are you from? I also applied online and they didn't ask for IELTS scores. I'm from Finland. So if IELTS doesn't appear on your personal checklist, you won't need it for the visa application process. The letter of explanation wasn't required for me either but I wrote and uploaded one just in case. Not sure about the TRV since I'm from a visa exempt country so I don't need it, but to my understanding you don't need to do a separate application for that.

I think that the application goes to CIC's servers first, from where someone (or a machine) redirects it to be processed in some VO. My application actually might be processed in Vegreville, Canada... (because of this)

Thanks for the response elokuu. I am from India and require a visa to study I Canada. Based on your response, the question that might solve my concern might be:

Are you able to upload additional documents of your choice when you apply for study permit online? such as letter of explanation, IELTS score card etc that CIC is not asking for i general?

For me, there was an opportunity to upload two non-required pdf files: the letter of explanation and a study plan. I only uploaded the letter of explanation. The number of these spaces for extra files might vary based on your home country and other details though, maybe someone else from India could help you better.
