Hi,

------------------------------------------------------------
Scenario
-Application is to sponsor only Spouse
-Sponsor and Spouse live inside Canada.
-Married for two years of less
-Application start date Aug, 2013. (Period of 2 year conditional residence)
-------------------------------------------------------------
-Since it's my spouse.
Both of us submit documents as per
1. Photocopy of Marriage Certificate.
2. Photos of Wedding ceremony.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Question 1) here is -
Why only above 2 proof's are required? CIC should also ask for the below as there is more evidence.
joint bank account statements,
joint savings account statements,
joint credit card statements,
joint line of credit statements,
jointly signed lease,
jointly signed mortgage papers or purchase agreement,
statutory declarations from persons/individuals with knowledge that the relationship is genuine and continuing.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Question 2) What if I submit extra information like the above to show our relationship is genuine? What happens?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks,
Chuchu

the 2 years conditional PR is for AFTER your spouse gets the PR, not before. If you're married, you can apply just after the marriage, once you have the marriage certificate. The new law means that you and your spouse have to stay together for at least 2 years AFTER the PR is approved, otherwise the PR might be revoke...

then : you need to submit the marriage certificate to show that you're married (so you fit into the category "married" in terms of family sponsorship), AND the proofs of relationship to show that your marriage is genuine - marriage certificate and pictures on its own will not be enough.

Good luck,
Sweden

CIC is not asking only for wedding photos, but for any photos that will stand as proof that your relationship is genuine: photos with friends and family or form vacations, for example. Also, CIC asks that you provide any other document that can prove the same thing: jointly signed papers, declarations from persons that know about the relationship, saying that it is genuine and continuing - anything you can think of. For all the forms you fill, you have the option to write on a separate sheet of paper any other detailed information.

For example, we wrote personal statement about our relationship and my husband wrote a personal statement about the reasons why he will definitely return to Canada (you do know that if the sponsor is living abroad he must convince the CIC that he will definitely return to Canada once his/her spouse gets the visa).

CIC asks for extended documents for sponsoring the common-law partner, because it's much harder to prove. But in the marriage cases I think it's superfluous. What if me and my husband didn't purchase or lease anything since we are together? What if we didn't access a line of credit? Does that mean we are not in a genuine and continuing relationship?

Plus, all those instruments are at your fingertips if you're living in a first world country. Try living a a second or third world country, see that you never in a life time sign any of those documents.

You can add to the file any document you see fit to prove the fact that you have a real marriage, but why think that CIC needs to ask for even more documents? Do you think that people that put together a MoC will have problems signing papers together, seeing that they now have to live together for 2 years?

If your 2nd year wedding anniversary is Nov 2013 and you get the landed approved in 2014, are they going to give you the conditional permanent resident or the complete one?

You have to have been married for two years or have a child together at the time you apply.
