i am wondering is it okay if the pictures are in black and white instead of color?

no its really not ok to send black/white pictures. all pictures and other supporting docs are supposed to be clear enough to convince your VO. you dont want to make them doubt about fake docs.
one of my friend submitted black and white photos and got interview before few days, his VO said, these pictures looks fake to me. he gave some more reasons and refused his application. i would suggest you to send colour photos instead of black and white so they dont look at your photos with doubts.
best of luck

colour doesnt matter really, i mean to say that all docs should be clear enough so they can read at first look. they dont take care of your application very well like us ??? if they touch black/white photo 2-3 times, they wont be able to recognize you in the photos at the end. i sent all original tickets, boarding passes and other stuff. if you want, you can send clear photocopies.
best of luck :)

Do you prefer looking at black and white or colour photos? I think most people prefer colour...so send colour.

As for documents, black and white should be fine, but again, if you can submit colour, why wouldn't you?

Also, keep in mind that bus tickets or movie tickets might not be very useful. Submitting more evidence is a good thing, but make sure it's evidence that will count for something. Movie tickets do not show names, so those are not really good for further proof. You could have gone to the movies with a friend or bought two tickets just to include with your application. The visa officer will only be interested in hard evidence that proves something.

Always remember that it's the quality of what you send and not the quantity. Like you, we were going to submit bus tickets, movie tickets, etc...but upon further thought, we realized that these were useless and did not in any way add credence to what we were trying to establish, i.e. that we are a genuine couple. The proof we did send (joint account, health insurance, hotel confirmations, airline tickets, lease agreement, our son's birth certificate, 160 photos, and so on) proves something. These are legitimate forms of evidence that the visa officer will definitely accept.

Put yourself in the shoes of a prosecuting attorney. You need evidence to get a conviction. In our case, we are the prosecutor, while CIC is the jury. You have to present your case so that there is no reasonable doubt. That means submitting hard evidence to prove to the jury that your relationship is indeed legit, but also that it's continuing.

The urge to submit every little thing can be strong...I know...I had the same urge...but when you think of it as a court of law, you must throw out the circumstantial evidence and go with what will get the conviction.

FS,
yes you made some good points. i will put the stuff in color.
but also what im trying to show here. we applied common-law, and my spouse is a failed refugee so he had to come back to mexico to wait it out so I came with him. so this is what i want to show them now. that i am now here in mexico with him.

but this is what we sent in with the application first.
we sent about:
-300-400 pictures of events in a timeline journal from when we met till when we sent in the app.
-6 or 7 letters from friends, family and employers stating they knew of our relationship and what they thought of it.
- a notarized common-law declaration.
- our rental lease with both our names on it
-bills with both names on it, hydro, cable, internet
- joint bank account
- joint costco card
-a car under both of our names
- proof we purchased a dog together
- my spouse has life insurance with me as his beneficiary
- letters from employers. we happen to work for the same person.
- receipts from gifts we have given eachother
- facebook logs
-facebook logs of our parents talking to eachother (they are facebook nerds, never met in real life, but they talk online Tongue )
- plane tickets of trips we took together
-my brother passed away and my spouse flew with me to attend the funeral so we posted items from the funeral, proof that he came with me
- pictures of him with my family.
- events tickets, movies, sports events, etc.
- proof we filed our taxes together as common-law.

but now we have 6 more months of evidence, including last christmas together, a second tax return filed together and 4 months of being here in mexico.
so im planning to send more pictures from christmas till today. the movie tickets might actually be worth something because they are from mexico movie theatres and we actually have pictures in the theatres!! haha (im a photo nut). also in mexico we have travelled to many different places by bus, so the bus tickets would help us also they put your names on them when you buy them. :)

those are the little evidence,
but on top of that we are sending more pictures of here, tickets for events we went to in mexico(i have pictures to go along with all events), proof we brought our dog with us. a second bank account we opened 4 months ago, void cheques that we have both our names on. our gym membership together.

anyways so I think in this case the small evidence would be worth it to prove I am here in mexico with my spouse now.

Thanks for your reply!! we will definatly send everything in color!
:D

Right. Good points. If you are using that evidence in connection with other evidence, it paints a picture, so to speak.

Good luck!

yeah i actually wasnt going to put in pictures of being at the theatre or in the bus. but now that you brought it up and I have them, it would make more sense to attatch the picture with the tickets :D

thanks!

Thank you! oh so there's a possibility that some of our sentimental stuff may not return.
