Hi,

Please guide.

1) I am a student in Canada. My study permit is expiring on April 30, 2015, so my wife's work permit is also expiring on April 30, 2015.
2) My studies are over in April 2015, but I took a letter from my college that mentioned that I need to stay in Canada for attending Convocation in June. Technically, degree is not over till i do not receive the degree (my opinion, thoughts are welcome)

I submitted my application to CIC with the required documents to extend my study permit and my wife's work permit till June 2015, but CIC REJECTED my application. When i called up at the call center, the relevant agent told me that since I am not required to study after April 2015, I can not be granted Study permit. The agent suggested that I want to take chance, I can reapply with more justifications else CIC can grant TRV, not Study Permit. Rest of all my friends have been granted Study Permit till June 2015.

My wife is already working full time in NOC A category of job since May 2014.

Any thoughts to represent my case again to CIC ?

Cheers

It make sense to re-apply if you can get a letter of registration along with study permit information from your school. Just to attend convocation make no reason for CIC to grant extension.

You should apply for PGWP.

I heard that the basic study permit rules are that study permit should be granted as Study Period + 90 days.

Any thoughts?

Your 90 days starts after you receive a transcript (final) or official letter/notification in hand. You can't count it as 'Convocation + 90 days'.
