hello,

Kindly if anyone can guide/ provide information regarding the following situation.

My fiance is visiting me for 15 days and meanwhile we plan to get married and make an inland sponsorship application.

I was told that we can extend her stay once the application is submitted.. but with only 15 days of stay "is it actually possible' (if we have all the documents ready) ?

I also read on the extension of visa webpage of CIC that one need to apply for extension 30 days prior to expiry of visa. Again, with 15 days of stay how is that possible?

I badly need proper guidence, would appreciate any information I can get.

Kind regards,

Is he already here? and got only 15 days to stay ( date stamped ) on passport. I actually knew someone back in 2000, who got 5 days, got married and extended visa - not sure what happened to their case but YES you can request extension - the days 30 is for those who have that time period but its atleast 30 days , if you only have 15th, you can apply on the 14th day - will be on implied status until you get a result
no worries

There is only one quite possible problem: if she gets permission to stay 15 days only and you get married the next day an apply for extension THAT means she lied at POE to the border officer about her INTENTION of visiting Canada. Usually CIC punishes for that by delaying process of sponsorship as long as they possibly could. So you could do that (lie, marry, apply for extension, apply inland for sponsorship) but there also could be consequences.

Thanks Regina.. I understand your point but what I fail to understand is what is the whole point of inland application if
"fiancée are declined visit visa' and
''spouse usually gets declined for visit visa (as they might stay) unless an outland sponsorship application has been already made"...

Kindly if you can suggest another way to make inland application for fiancée/spouse that will not have negative consequences..

kind regards,

INLAND process is for people who have been in Canada separately from their spouse-to-be, on working or studying visas. Then they met a Canadian PR or a citizen and got married. Then they could apply INLAND.

In the cases like yours- when fiance is in another country- you should marry there and apply OUTLAND. What is your problem to do that in a way other people in the same situation do ?

keep in mind the processing times you see on the cic site for outland applications aren't always accurate. the best way to see what the current trend is to go to the family sponsorship board on this forum, and search for the thread that is specific to outland applicants from the country your fiance is from. you will see from there how long current processing times currently is.
